The Haven Foundation Trustee Report Year ending 31[st] March 2025

The Haven Foundation is registered Charity number 1059479 Governed by Constitution

The main aim is to raise the Capital needed to provide a home for life for Adults with Autism/ Epilepsy/ Learning Disability

The Trustees :

Mrs Joy Collyer-Gibbs Chairperson Mrs Kathleen Harvey Secretary Mr Brian Wood Treasurer Mrs Darien Wood Mrs Lynne Shepard Mrs Jane Ditchburn

The Charity has at last fulfilled its aim, we now have a 4 bedroom House and 2 x 1 bed self contained flats .These are to provide Supported Living Homes for adults with Autism/ Epilepsy/ learning Disability. The 4 bed house is for 3 tenants with the 4[th] bedroom for sleep in staff.

We had been working with Vivid Housing, a Social Housing Association in our area for a few years, through them the properties listed above, have been built. They are part of a small, new build development in Worplesdon, Guildford,Surrey. This is an area that is ideal for our project. Sadly Covid hit when the build had not long started, thus delaying things.

We had also been working with Surrey County Council Social Services , they helped to find a suitable Landlord to take on the responsibility of managing the properties and Tenants. We worked with EHSL Supported Housing, a registered Charity. We were impressed with how they operate, they are very experienced in this type of Supported Living property. They have a lease with us, paying rent to us each month.

SCC SS also helped to find a suitable care provider. It was decided Boyce Care Ltd would be ideal, they provide all the support needs for the residents.

In May 2024 , 3 tenants were at last able to move into the house. Then in September 2024 another tenant moved into 1 of the flats.

A few months before the tenants moved in we had a small celebration at the property for all our fantastic Volunteers and a couple of Parish Councillors who had helped us.

This was very important to us to enable the Volunteers to see what all their years of hard work and dedication had achieved.

Thanks to all their hard work we were able to have the properties built, and to furnish them to a high standard.

We had no idea who would move in and if they would have the financial means to buy everything needed themselves, so it was important to us we could furnish and provide everything needed to set the property up for the residents.

It was a goal of ours to provide a beautiful home for whoever came to live there, this we did.

The Volunteers and Trustees were all very thrilled with what the Charity achieved.

A few years ago one of our long serving Volunteers , Mr David Finch, died leaving us £80.000 in his will, this was unexpected and wonderful. To honour his gift we named the house Finch Haven.

There were times over the years we probably all wondered if we would reach our goal, but we did.

It is a fantastic feeling seeing the property and knowing the residents are happy in their lovely home.
