SOLrrH EAsr
To provlde a service to those members of the publlc who own a Labrador
retriever or any dog of predomlnantly Labrador retrlever odgln or type.
To recover. ￿habIlItate, where necessary and re-home any Labrador Retriever
whlch has been ill-treated, neglected or Is unwanted for whatever reason
irrespectlve of the age, sex or health of the dog and to do all that Is posslble to
ensure the welfare of such dogs regardless of arcumstances
To ensure that those Labrador Retrievers that are re-homed are pla￿d Into
suitable permanent homes so as to ensure thelr future well-belng
and to keep In contact wlth Such dog for the duration of their live5.

REVIEW OF PROGRESS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31" MARCH 2021
Labrador Rescue South East and Central reaches Its 25th year of providing a servi
as a re-homing charity, assisting those who find they can no longer care for their Labrador
and to safely and effectively re-home their k*t.
Durlng 202011 the charity placed 33 Labradors In their new forever h¢)mes. The charlty has
for many years assisted with the costs of medical and surgical treatment for those anlmals
that requlre treatment at the time of re-homing and wlth ongolng care where this is
necessary and we maintain a Welfare Fund specifically for this purpose.
The Trustees are aware of the need to pmvlde for the care of 62 dogs that currently benefit
from the Welfare Fund. Increasingly the charlty Is belng asked to a55iSt with the ongolng
costs of dogs wlth chronlc medical and surgical problems. We are fortunate In our flnanclal
sltuatlon due to continued bequests to the charity, whlch has placed us In a favourable
position after a year in which many charities have suffered a tremendous loss of revenue.
We have been unable to fund raise through many of our tradltional methods particularly
durln9 last Summer wlth no fetes, no dogs paty and no sponsored runners and as the
charity has been essentially closed for much of the past year we have had Ilttle Income form
homing dogs.
The hard-worklng volunteers have been rather frustrated by the ne￿ssIty to 'close' the
actlvltles of the charlty for much of the past year but the Trustees felt that It would be
wrong to expett volunteers to undertake work on behalf of the charfty durfng the cr151s. The
work of the charlty Is Important and worthwhlle but not so vltal that anyone should put
themselves in any risk on our behalf. We ensured that dunng the lock downs any
emergencles could be pla￿d in kennels by the owner5 at our expense and dealt wlth when
It was safe to do so.
We are antlcipatlng a possible upsurge of dogs requirbng rehoming over thé next 12 months
as those who obtalned pups because they were at home start to return to work and dogs
accustomed to company a￿ left alone and become stressed and suffer separation anxiety
and the consequent behavloural problems. We have recently had a volunteer with a media
background who has taken on the task of embarklng on an Inforniatlon campalgn
hlghlightlng the work of tradltional breed rescues. The processes of LRSE&C may appear
slow and bureaucratic In a time of instant onllne shopplng but our trled and tested methods
ensure excellent homes and thls must be our selllng polnt. We may not be the qulckest way
to rehome a Labrador but we wlll ￿rtainlY be the safest for the welfare of the dog.

FINANCIAL REPORT FOR YEAR ENDED 31•t MARCH 2021
Labrador Rescue South East and Centrdl contlnues to be in a healthy financial position
despite the restrictions imposed by the Govemment during the year due to COVID-19 which
curtalled and fundraising activities that are usually held or attended durlng the year.
Income from Legacles 15 Important to the charlty with £59,490 recelved thSs year. The
charity is grateftjl to those who in thelr Wllls left a Legacy to LRSE&C we offer our
condolences to those who have lost a relative.
Income from Voluntary Receipts has not been unduly efferted by the restrictions Imposed
last year and although fundralslng from outdoor events suffered the shortfall was more than
cOVe￿d by the sale of Calendars and Christmas Cards. The cost of produclng these was
covered by Income from the Photo Competition and the printer5 of the Christmas Cards
kindly produced these wlthout charge.
Adoptlon Fees were down whlch was to be expected and the usual cost assoclated wlth
rehoming were down by £6,000.
The cost of provldlng medlcal, surglcal and other needs to those 62 dogs covered by our
Welfare Fund increase by £9k to £39K.
The Trustees agreed that it wlll hold reserve5 based on Its annual expenditure and that this
wlll equal at least the expenditure for the previous flnanclal year. Reserves wlll be held In a
separate bank account, currently Scottish Wldows Bank, and will be adjusted if deemed
ne￿$Sary.
At the end of the flnanclal year Labrador Rescue South East and Central had total assets of
£564,000 and ￿M4￿n5 In a strong financlal posltion to ensure that It can contlnue to carry
out Its objectlves and responslbllities into the future.
