|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Support, friendship, and guidance begin the moment you walk through the doors at Waterside Gymnastics Club. Children are taught not only the physical skills of strength, balance, and coordination, but also how to adapt to different physical and social environments. They gain the confidence to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Our squads work hard to develop gymnasts to a standard where they can compete at both local and international levels. In October 2024, 2 gymnasts from TGB were selected and competed for GB in the European teamgym championships in Baku, bringing home the bronze medal. TGB, AGS & Artistic took part in various competitions and grades. Artistic 23 gymnasts pass their Hampshire grades during the year. Hampshire Classic Challenge 13 gymnasts entered with results from gold to silver One gymnast managed to earn a place on the Southern regional team at the national classic challenge finals. |
Teamgym Boys gymnasts took part in several competitions this year including the senior boy’s full team who won Bronze at the British Finals in July 2025 . 34 AGS gymnasts competed at competition this year taking part in the Mezzo cup which is split in to 4 legs – England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Two teams subsequently qualified for the Mezzo finals which will be held in October 2025. All 50 AGS gymnasts also competed in their at home club championships demonstrating their hard work and beautiful gymnastics. We had our annual gala, which is always a good source of fundraising and enjoyed by gymnasts, parents and coaches alike. We are now busy preparing the 2026 Gala with the theme of Space. We have also started a Saturday morning tuck shop which is being welcomed by the parents of our minis wh0 get to the gym very early on a Saturday morning, they can now enjoy a warm drink & sweet treat. Waterside gym club also realise the importance of coach involvement and development and pay for all necessary training courses. During the year we have put through 8 level 1 coaches in both Team Gym and Artistic. We also have 2 coaches booked on a level 2 course . We are also actively looking for new qualified coaches and parents to join our bank of parent helpers as the club cannot survive without this support. We have started to appoint assistant heads to help run the sessions and help the head coaches by taking some of the pressure off. All coaches are also required to complete regular safeguarding courses and have a valid DBS in order to ensure not only the physical safety of the children involved but also their personal and mental well-being.
