The trustees p￿sent their annual report and financial slalements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Th8 financial statgments have been prepared in accordan(g with th8 accounting policies set oul in not8 1 to the
financial statements and comply with the charity's Trust deed. the Charities Act 2011 and 'A¢counting and Reporting
by Charities: Statement of R8commended Praclice applicab18 to chariti8s preparing their accounts in accordance
with Ihe Financlal R8POrting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January
2019).
Objectives and activities
The objects of the charfty are a5 follows:
to relleve person5 who are In need by reason of financlal hardship, ill health, unemployment or such olher
economlc or social disadvantage in particular, but not Ilmlted to. those who are r8gulaT attenders at
Meadow Way Chapel, Chapel Court, Hell8sdon, Norwlch or are assoclated wlth such Chapel and In

those who ar8 in charitable need because of their age. infirmity, disability or otherwise on terms appropriat8
to their means;

The trustees have pald due regard to guidance Issued by the Charity Commlsslon in decldlng what activltles the
charlty should undertake, in partlcular tha Chailty Commlsslon guldance on publlc benefit.
Achlevemonts and performance
2024 brought better news in the frdGt thdt buildiiig wurk continu8d during the year. The base for each of our 5
bungalows has been completed with a vi8W to recommence work on our Pinewood Court project in the Spring of
2025. Encouragingly, we have received some enquiries as regards occupancy once the project has be8n
completed.
111 health continues to Impact tha work of the Tn￿t but the Twst has made progress as regards racruiting now
Trustees. During the autumn, the Trust held an 'open questions and answers. meeting encouraging anyone
interested in our work to Come along. Five people were interested. and as you can see from the above, pleasingly,
we recruited Iwo new Trustees who joined us in December. Praise God. In the coming months thera will be a
change in roles amongst the Trustees.
The Community Worker's role amongst the elderly continues to go from strength to str8roth and is much
appreciated within the locality. Some of thè role's support lo the elderly is as follows..
visiling people in th8ir homes
training volunteers to support the WOTk amongst the elderly
helping lo arrange transport so that the elderly could attend activities arranged for them
running Bible studies for the elderly
Our next report should provlde more detsll as to the progress as regards the building of Plnewood Court.

Financlal revlew
Thè result for th8 year was a deficit on the general unresiricted fund of £73,202 (2023: deficit of £91.256) . Genèral
unrestrict8d reserves ended th8 year at £1.564,728 (2023: £1.637.930).
Resetves policy
It Is the policy of the ch8rty that unrestrlcted knnds whlch have not been deslgnated for a specKl¢ use should be
m81ntained at a level equlvajenl to b6tween three and six month's expenditure. The twstees consider that reseries
at thls level wlll en5￿￿ that. In the event of a significant drop in funding. they wlll be able to continue the charitys
current actlvlties whlle Conslderatlon is given to ways in whlch addltional funds may be ralsed. Thls level of resep4es
has been maintalned throughout the year.
Current high levels of unrestrlctad raserves are due to the receipt of substantial legacles whlch will enable the long
planned for development of land owned by the charity to fulfil its prSmary purp058 of providing accommodation for
81d8rfy people in need.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
The trustees a￿ responsible for preparing the Trustees, Rewt and the financial statements in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Slandards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting
Praclice).
The law applicablè to charitl8s in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financia5 slataments for each
financial year which giv8 a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and
application of r6$0urces of th8 charity for that year.
In preparing th8se financial statements, the trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and th8n apply th8m consistently;
- observe th8 methods and principles in the Charities SORP:
- make judg8m8nts and 8stimat8S that are reasonable and prudent".
state whether applicabl8 accounting standards hav8 been followed, subjed to any material departures dlsclosed
and explained in the financial statements- and
prepare the financial statements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charlly
will continue in operatlon.

Accounting policies
Charlty Irrformallon
The Hawthome Meadow Trust is an unincorporated charity govemed by a Declaration of Trust dated 8th
August 1996.
1.1 Basls of preparatlon
The financial statemènts have been prepared in accordance with the charity's gov8ming documenl. the
Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 "The Financial R8POrting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland.
("FRS 102") and the Charities SORP 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Rocommended
Practi￿ applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with Éhe Financial Reporting Standard
appli¢able in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 102). (effective 1 January 2019). The Charity is a Public
Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The charlty has taken a(fvantage of the provlslons In the SORP for charltles not to prepare a Ststement of
Cash Flows.
The financial statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to
the extont required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of
Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of
Recommended Practlce which Is refefred to In the Regulatlons but whlch has slnce been wlthdrawn.
The finandal statements ar6 pr8pared In sterfln9, whlch is th8 functional currency of the charfly. Monetary
amounts In thes8 financial stat8ments are rounded to the near8St £.
The financial statements have be8n prepared under the historical cost conv8ntion, [modified to include the
revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment properties and certain financial instruments at fair
value]. The principal accounling polici88 adopted are set out b810w.
1.2 Golng concèrn
At the time of approvlng the financlal statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation Ihat the charity
has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foroseeable future. Thus the trustees
contlnue to adopt the going conc8m basis of accounting in preparlng the financial statements.
1.3 Charitablo funds
Unrestricted funds are avallable for use at the dlscretion of the trustees in furtherance of thelr charitable
obJect4v8s.
R8Stricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors or gpntors as to how they may b8 used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Endowment funds are subject to speclfic condltlons by donors that the capltal must be malntslned by the
charity.
1A Income
Income is recognised when th8 charity is legally entitled to it aftèr any performance conditions hav8 bean met,
the amounts can be measur8d r81iably. and it is probable that income will b8 received.
Cash donations are recognised on ￿ceIpt. Other donations are rocognised once the charity has boen notrfied
of the donation, unless perfomiance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in
relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognlsed at the time of the don8tlon.
Legacies are r8cognised on receipt or otherwise if th8 chanty has been notified of an impending distribution.

contingent asset.

1.5 Expondittirè
Expenditure is recognised once there Is a 18gal or ci)nstructive obligation to transfer economlc benellt to a
third paty, it is probable that a transfer of ewnomlc benefits will be requlred in settlement. and the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classffied by actlvlty. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and
shared costs, Including support costs invofved in undertaking each activtty. Direct costs attributable to a single
activity are allocated direcly ta that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and
support C06ts which are not attributabl8 to a single activty are apportioned between those activities on 8 b85iS
consistent with th8 use of resources. Central staff costs ara allocated on the basis of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
1.6 Property, plant and equlpment

1.7 Impalrnient of nonwcurrent assets
At each reporting end date, the Charity revi8ws carrying amounts of its tsnglble assets to determine
whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication
exlsts, the recoverable amount of the asset Is estlm8ted In order to determlne the extent ol the Imp81rment
loss (if any).
1.8 Cash and cash oqulvalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposlts held at call wlth banks, other short-term Ilquld
Investments wlth orfginal maturitles of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
within borrowings in current liabilities.
1.9 Flnanclal instruments
The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments, and Section 12
'Other Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of its financial instnjments.
Financial instrument5 are recognised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Flnancial assets and Ilabllltles are offset, wlth the net amounts presented In the flnanclal statements. when
there is a legally enforceable rlght to set off the recognised amounts and there Is an Intention to setue on a nel
basis or to reallse the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
