OPERATIONAL REVIEW
Sustained and continuing periods ol kKkdown and other restrictions as a result ol the coronavirus pandemic have had
a significant impact on the financial year ending March 31st 2021. The Centre's Ib4uid reserves have sustained it through
the year, along wilh the agreement wilh the Cathedral to finants some aspects ol the Leaming Centre's work.
The regerves remwn strong. but the Trustees wll need to continue to review the scope of the Learning Centre's wo
as the Board ￿ntInueS to secure a stable finanual future for the Gerrtre. Current plans incI￿Je wider involvement in the
Cathedral's leaTning programme, including learning among adults.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Due to Covid-19 restriclions schools have been unable to visit Southwark Cathedral. This reduced school visit in¢ome
in 2021 to nil 12020 £29.326} and had a Signif￿nI impact on the finances of the charity. The Coronavirus Job
Retention Scheme ICJRSI mf(igaled some of the adverse fi'nancial impacl of the crisis. however notwr(hsianding this
the Trustees still had lo make the drfficuR d￿l$lon to make a member of staff redundant during the year.
When COVKI restriclions lift r( i8 hoped that the charity's financgs will slowty retum lo nomial. The charity will once
again be able to w81come and to inspire hrge numbers of young people wflh th8 rich history, art and ar¢hitecture of
Southwark Cathedral and to allow them to wor)der in person. not remotely, al an ancient sacred space.

deficit of £5.6151. Total funds at the end ol the year anN)unts to £108,604 {2020: £129,207). these funds are held lor
