After making appropriate enquiries. the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charty has adequate
resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason. they continue to adopt
the 90ing concern basis in preparing the financial ststemenls. Further details regarding the adoption of the going
concern basis can be found in the accounting policies.

The Trustees are responsible for preparin9 the Trustees. report and the financial statements in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards Iunited ￿ngdoM Generally Accepted Accounting
Praclicel.
The law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for
each financial which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of r(s incoming resources
and application of resources, including rts income arKI expenditure, for that period. In preparing these financial

in carwng out my examination I have lollowed the applicable Directions given by the Chanty Commission under
section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

Your attentson is drawn lo the fact that the Charity has prepared the accounts in accordance wlh Accounting and
Reportin9 by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance wth the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 in
preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April
2005 which Is referred to in the extant regulations but has been wrthdrawn.
l understand that this has been done in order for the accounts to provide a true and fair view in accordance with
the Generally Accepted Accounling Practice effective for repo￿.n9 periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015.

Dobies Charitable Trust is an unincorporated charity registered in England.
Accounting policies
2.1 8a$l$ of pr•paratlon of fin•nclal statèm•nts
The finanaal statements have been prepared in accordance ￿th the Charities SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance v*ith the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 leffecb.ve 1 January 20191. the Finan¢ial Reptrrting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charib'es Act 2011.
The financial statements have been prepared to give a Irue and fairf view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the extent required lo provide a Irue
and fairf view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities". Statement ol Recommended
Practice effective from 1 April 2005 vthich has since been wlhdrawn.
Dobies Charitable Trust meets the definition of a public benefil entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilits'es are initially recognised at historical cost or transacts'on value unless otherwise slated in the
relevant accounting policy.
2.2 Income
All income 1$ recognised once the Charity has entitlement to the in¢ome, il is probable that the
income Mll be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Income lax recoverable in relats.on lo investment income is recognised al the ts'me the investment
income is receivable.
2.3 Expgndllur•
Expenditure is reeogniged once there is a legal OT eonslnjetive obligation lo transfer ectsnomi¢ benefit

the amount of the obligation ean be measureil reliably. Expenditu￿ is Classified by aclivily. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of di￿¢1 ¢osls and shared ¢osls, in¢luding support costs
involved in undertaking each acb'vity. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly
lo that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and support costs which are
not attributable to a single activity are apportioned be￿een those activities on a basis consislenl with
the use of resources. Central Staff Costs a￿ allocated on the basi5 of tsme spent, and depreciatson
charges allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
Expenditure on charitable activth'es is incurred on direcljy undertaking the activf(ies vthich further the
Charity's objectives, as well as any associated support costs.
All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.
2.4 Invostmgnts
Fixed asset investments are a form of financial instrument and are inf(ially recognised at their
transaction cost and subsequentty measured at fair value at the Balance sheet date, unless the value
cannot be measured reliably in ￿1¢h ¢ase rt Is MeaSu￿d al cost less impairment. Investment gains
and losses. vthelher realised or unrealised. are Combined and presented as 'GainsllLossesl on
investments, in the Statement of financial activ￿eS.

2.5 Dobtors
Trade and other debtors are Tecognised al the settlement amount after any trade discount offered.
Prepayment5 are valued al the amount prepaid nel of any trade discounts due.
2.6 Cash at bank and In hand
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short-term hwhty liquid investments with a short maturity
of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.
2.7 Llabllltl•$ and provlslons
Liabilities are recognised vthen there is an obligation at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be required in settlement, and the arnount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilities a￿ recognised * the amount that the Chanty anb"cipates il will pay to settle the debt or the
amount il has received as advanced payments for the goods or services it musl provide.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is material. the provision is based on the present value of those
amounts, discounted al the pre-tax discount rale that refleds the risks specific lo the Iiabilily. The
unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Slalemenl of financial activities as a finance cost.
2.8 Flnanclal Instruments
The Charity only has finaneial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial Instruments are Initially recognised al transaction value and subsequently
measured al their settlement value ￿th the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured al amortised cost using the effective interest method.
2.9 Fund accountlng
General funds are unreslncled lunds which are available lor use at the discretion ef the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Investment income, gains and losses are allocated to the appropriate fund.
