Income
Income is down on 2019 by £16,442 at £52,577, not unsurprising given the club closed on 17" March 2020 in line with Government COVID guidelines, and never fully reopened for the remainder of the year,
As such, membership subs was largely voluntary from April onwards, in this regard the support from our members in these difficult and challenging times has been overwhelming, with sub income maintained at £36,528, compared to £53,917 prior year.
Income has also been supplemented by two COVID grants, totalling £11,334.00, both from Wokingham Borough Council. By way of update, a further £8,906 grant was received via WBC early 2021, with an additional £500 from the BJA Club Grant Scheme.
Cost of Sales
Cost of Sales have reduced significantly at £3,742 (compared to £20,436 in 2019) due to all competitions being cancelled from March.
Expenditure
Expenditure reduced by £27,988 to £29,890, with all unnecessary building investment/ maintenance on hold, while rent and rate concessions were provided by Wokingham Without Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council respectively.
Reserves
We report a surplus for the year of £18,945, compared to the £9,295 deficit in 2019, the total surplus now stands at £76,908.
The reserves we hold ensure the charity can continue to operate for the foreseeable future and meet its liabilities when they fall due. Reserves will also be used to maintain and renew the charity’s assets.
The COVID challenges continue into 2021, with Lockdown restrictions not due to be fully released until 19" July 2021, as a result membership income remains supressed. However, the fabulous support of our members must be acknowledged, with many (where circumstances permit) continuing to pay subs throughout — the Committee extend their heartfelt gratitude.
Many of the development projects remained on hold during this period of uncertainty, however our aspirations remain the same, in that we wish to continue supporting competition entry for our members and reinvest in the fabric of the club.
Finally, the committee continues to be grateful for all the volunteers and fund raising, this includes the quiz/ social nights (courtesy of Paul Knight & Stuart Cook) and the now very successful Silent Auctions organised by Rochelle Wilson. The committee would also like to extend their thanks for the various private denotations, to include any benefit from the monthly gradings undertaken by Kim Tilley.

Pinewood Judo Club ig Chairman’s Report 2020-21
The 2020-21 period has been dominated in terms of our response to COVID measures lockdowns. Whilst I’m sure we all appreciate this is not the end of the COVID virus we sincerely hope 19" July marks the end of legal risk mitigation measures. We do however ask everyone to be aware of good hygiene measures and consider the appropriate use of face masks.
The formality of tonight’s meeting remains to meet our club constitutional requirements; to elect new committee members and to approve the club financial accounts (in line with our charitable status), whilst also reporting on the running of the club. Pinewood Judo Club continues to offer a welcoming family environment, while retaining the focus and aspiration of a competitive judo club. While COVID has halted competition for most of our Judoka, we celebrate the progress of Ben & Megan Fletcher who continue with their Olympic dreams in Tokyo this summer — we wish them every success. I'd like to give thanks for the excellent work done by the Pinewood Coaching Team, led by Mark Fricker, during a very challenging period of non-contact Judo. And for the great support provided by Paul Knight, David Johnston, Terry Hewitt, Michelle Fairley. | am also grateful for the support provided by Kim Tilley who has restarted our grading activities.
The financial health of the club has been maintained during the COVID period thanks to our loyal membership fees and the stewardship of Alasdair Matthews. We very much look forward to the restarting of the competition schedule over the coming months.
COVID has enabled us to make fresh decisions about the shared use of our club with the weights club. This long-standing relationship has ended, we now look forward to ensuring a more Judo-focused use of this area. We have also made the decision that we will no longer support the bank holiday Car Boot Sales, and we will look for alternative fund-raising opportunities. A big thank you to Alasdair Matthews who has been the driving force for this over many, many years.
Our social events have also been very badly impacted by COVID measures, and we look forward to restarting activities this summer. We look forward to hearing more from Paul Knight & Stuart Cook who lead in this area.
Our building maintenance work has also slowed during COVID, but a notable thanks to Mark Fricker for his repainting of the charging room areas. We hope to return club improvement projects in the autumn, but | must remind club members that we need a willing supply of volunteers to help in various ways. If you feel able to help in any way, please do let us know. Finally, may | record my thanks to all our committee members for their support to the club, with special thanks to Alasdair for his financial stewardship, and to Kevin for his secretarial support. As we bid farewell to Jerry & Bernie as committee members and look forward to working with committee members elected tonight. David [ ' once Club Rance y d Chairman 19" July 2021 Signed: ©
