## **Structure Governance and management**

## **Governing Document**

Constitution adopted 1 July 1996

## **Constitution of trustee and selection methods**

The charity is constituted as a trust and the trustees are appointed by the existing trustees.

## **Objectives and activities**

## **Objects of Charity**

The charity is governed by constitution and the main objectives are the furtherance of the Christian Faith. In order to do this, regular activities are carried out and invitations given out to public. Finance is raised purely from members’ contributions. The day to day running of the church is delegated by the Trustees to the Pastor.

## **Summary of main activities in relation to these objects**

The Charity exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to teach people the bible. All our activities reflect these core goals. The Church arranges or participates in a number of activities to this end, namely Bible Conferences, Marriage Seminars, Men’s Discipleships, Revival Meetings with visiting preachers, Tent Crusades (home and abroad). We have complied with our duty to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

## **Achievements and performance**

I am privileged to have taken over the West Bromwich Church following the October 2023 Waltham Forest Bible Conference.

We are thankful that the year ending in June 2024 was a fruitful one for our church and that God continued building His church.

During the year, we were blessed to host a number of revivals with Evangelist Ernie Toppin, Evangelist Ben Baiden, Pastor Wesley Decosta and Pastor Lewis Claxton. All of these revivals were a blessing to us as a local congregation, and we were blessed to have members of other local churches come out too.

In February 2024 we hosted a full drama production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This production was put on by members of the Erdington Church, and we were able to advertise on a local BBC Radio station and we saw over 40 visitors come out on the night.

In May 2024, we were blessed to have found a local building which we were able to move into in June 2024. We were able to add an additional Wednesday night service, and also start ministries like Nursery, as well as hosting a number of concerts throughout the year, as well as prayer meetings and regular fellowships.

We thank God for the growth in numbers, baptising 3 converts in March 2023, and continuing to see visitors come and serve God with us.

God has helped a number of members of our congregation in work and promotions, and this is reflected in the increased giving. As well as taking on the responsibility of a commercial lease and all that comes with this, we are blessed to have been able to continue our regular outreach schedule, and give towards World Evangelism.

We are excited for all that God will continue to do here in West Bromwich, and we are believing Him to enable us to play a larger part in the work of Evangelism, Discipleship and Church Planting.

## **Financial review**

We believe the church finances will grow next year with increased donations. This is because many already see the valuable work we

do as a church and are willing to keep supporting us financially.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS**

# **To the Trustees of**

# **The Potters House Christian Fellowship (Birmingham) For the Year Ended 30 June 2024**

## **Charity number 1057240**

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30 June 2024, which are set out on Pages 6 and 7.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

## It is my responsibility to:

- Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
