Chairman’s report for year to 31[st] August 2025
I can’t believe another year has flown by and I couldn’t be prouder of our Riversiders.
Looking back over the last year, we had:
• A successful Beauty and the Beast /13 combo in our temporary home of Little Gransden Village Hall.
• Two of our students received NODA Rising Star awards for 13. We managed to secure a donation form the Mayor and this helped us look forward to celebrating our 20th year, planning a gala and inviting back one of the founding tutors.
• We said goodbye to Jacqui and appointed Harriet.
• We gave Emily the chance to have more control with the juniors, and she took on the role of MD for the Juniors as well as Acting Director.
• The Christmas show arrived with separate shows. Emily wrote her own pantomime of Peter Pan and my goodness, did the Juniors pull it off! We grew in numbers after that.
• The Seniors performed The Snail and the Whale, with a musical arrangement entirely written and designed by Ian Tipping, and it was sublime. The choreography by Ellen for each show was at the highest standard, and Harriet made her mark very quickly.
• The new year brought in Richard Mann to work with Harriet, Ian and Ellen on Legally Blonde. What a show!! In a relatively short amount of time the show was auditioned, cast, rehearsed and performed to an amazingly high standard. I know I will be a little biased here since my daughter played Elle, but the Seniors both on stage and backstage were consummate professionals throughout, supporting one another and making it all flow so well, under the creative team of tutors. I simply could not be prouder.
• We now have Shrek Junior coming up next month and then the gala to celebrate our 20-year anniversary, both in July.
What a busy and brilliant year it has been!
As Chair, I am now standing down, but would like to thank my committee team, past and present who have all given so much to Riverside (and continue to do so). Thank you all for all that you do. A massive thank you to the tutors who have truly excelled this last year. I could not ask any more of you. And the parents for all your support with cover on a Sunday. You’ll never know how important and valued that role is.
Lastly thank you for all the Riverside children. You are all awesome and stars that I fully expect to see go on to great things in the future.
Riverside Theatre Company offers so much to its members. We are one big team that make this machine work. Never forget how important this charity is … and I will never
stop banging the drum for Riverside because I truly believe children gain so much from being a member.

Responsibilities and basis of report
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 / 08 / 2024.
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
