The Trustees present their annual report and th¢ fu)8￿131 stslements for the year ended 31 July 2021 and
confirni they comply with the Company Act 2006, Charities Act 2011, the trust deed and the Charities SORP
2005.

Governing document
The organisaiion is a charitable company limited by guardntK incorpordted on 23 July 1996 and registered as a
charity on 30 July 1996. The company was esthblish¢d under a Memorandum of Associ8tion which established
the objects and powers of the charitable company and is governed under its Article5 of A550ciation.
Org8nlsJtlonAI Structure
The board of Injstee is responsible for the 8enerni control and management of the charity. The trustees meet
together a5 a body monthly and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the activities
provided by the charity.
The Board consists of noi fewer than five and no more than nine persons elected by Members of the Charity.
The business of the Charity is managed by the Board. which may use all the powers of the Charity that are noL
by the Companies Act or by these Articles. resetved to the Members or to them in their capacity as Members.
The day-tfrday mana8emeni of the Community Centre and community facilitie5 and projerts are delegated to
staff.
Recruitment And *ppolntmenl of trustees
No person may be elected (whether being appointed for the first time or bein8 reappointed, having already
served &s a trustee) as a trustee by the Members unless..

not less than 21 and noi more than 35 days befor¢ th¢ date appointed for the meetin8, notice signed by a
Member has been given to the Charity proposin8 the person for appointment as p trustee in a format specified by
the TnLStees.
Trustees are elecied by ihe vote on Annual General Meelings. The truste¢s believe this approach ensures that
new trustees ar¢ re5pe¢t¢d members of the faiih and local communities and ensures that good relations are
fostered between ihe Community Centre and members of the community that we serve.
In selecting new trustees. we seek to idenlify people who regularly attend events and functions organised by the
charity and are willing to volunteer to help in our broader community work. Potential trustees are invited lo
attend trustee$, meetings as observers and are given more delails of the Charitys aims and activitie5 and,any new
prospective trustee ar¢ initially nominated by the registered members of the charity, and following vetting
pr￿e$S they then go through the election pmcess. This process allows due ¢onsideration of the person's
eligibility, personal comIKt¢n¢e, specialist knowledge and skills.
RLgk management
The Iruste¢s have a55e&8ed the risks the charity faces and have drdwn up a risk matrix which identifies the major
risks by area of activity, the nature of those risks, the likelih(Nxl of the risks happening and the measures taken to
manage them. The trustees review this risk matrix regularly at their meetings.
The trustees are salisfied that syslems are in place. i)r arrangements are in hand, to manage the risks thal have
been identified. In parti¢ular, insurance ¢over is in place and the f￿anCeS of the Community Centr¢ are kept
under review.

Our objectives are set to reflect our faith and community ain￿. E￿h year our tnLStees review our obj￿Ilve$ and
activities lo ensure they continue to reflect our aims. In ¢anying out this review the trustees have ¢onsidered the
Charity Commission's gener￿ guidance on public benefit and in particular its supplementary public guidance on
the &dvancem¢nl of religion for the public b¢n¢fit.
Our dual aims remain to provide a facility where attendee5 Can worship and to provide a community facility for
all the inhabitants of local area. Our long-*m] ambiiion is io build the self-confidence of Muslims in their faith,
and through our community facilities and aciivilies help tnake our area a peaceful, vibrdnt and harnionious
community,

We want to make our Communiry Centre an accessible and welcoming venue where all Muslims and those who
wish to know more about our faith, can gather together to leorn about the faith and worship. The Community
Centre is open for daily prnyers and th¢ Friday prayers being a focus of our activities.
At our events we share the teachings of Islam and the nalur¢ of our faith throu8h re8ular lectures and
disiribulion of liieratur¢ in English, Albanian and Arabic language. In addition, we also hold an open week each
year when we invite congregations from other faith groups to visit ￿ and I￿rn more about Islam. offer the
space for interfaith talks and come together Muslim, Christians and Jew& mental health awareness lectures.

children 7-16 years old both in Albanian and Arabic language. All our community fa¢ilities and activities
including classes, health initiatives and seminars on all the different Subjects including child prole¢tion &re
widely advertised and we welcome the participation of all in our local community including hub community
kitchen and free soup kitrh¢n on Sundays for th¢ locat people and homeless regardless of their faith or b¢li¢f.
Most of our activities are free and supported by donations (or grdnt funding). Where a charge is made,
oncessions are made for students, and those on means-tested benefits. no charges of any kind apply to ¢ld¢rs
and pensioners. The Elderly Wellbeing Projectrs goal is to support the development of healthier lifestyles to
improve well-being and reduce isolation and fear for thos¢ who are 60 years of age and over. The Proj¢cl
fiKUSes on providing physical activities. h¢alth awarene&s and prevention talk5 on various health conditions
su¢h as mental health issues, eating healthily. br￿$t can￿, prostate cancer. arthritis. and di&bet¢s.

Our Communiry Centre provides a cenier for regular daily prayers and worship for th¢ activities associated
with our faith. During the year under review. we offered a range of religious services and activities including:
Prayers
The Community Centre is open all day for daily and Friday prnyers. During the week we have up to 100 people
who re8ularly attend daily prayets and over 500 who regularly attend Friday prnyer5.
Ffstlvais
The Community Centre prepar&4 foc￿ during Ramadan for Ihose attending the Centre who wishes to break their
fast together. Eid was also celebrated at the Community Centre with a family day and communal meal.
Funeral f4¢llltl¢s
We provide comprehensive trnining in all aspects of Islamic burial pro¢¢dures. The Centre has begun to
provide a community funerdl service.

The tnJStees have reviewed the reserves of the charity. Their policy is to hold enough funds to meet three
months, operating costs of the premise& The free res¢tves as ai 31 July 2021 were £231.58? (£193.974 - 31
July 2020).
Principal fundlng sources
The charity's main source of income is through regular internal collection from our members and collection
during Friday ¢ongr¢gation. membership and Vario￿ donations. This level of voluntsry giving is l)oth generous
and encouraging.
Plans for future per5ods
We are in the process of preparation for appliC￿lOn at Brent ￿UnCIl regarding the development of the new
center.
The Community Center is now too small to comfortably a￿orn￿Oda* all those who r¢gularly attend Friday
prayers.
The tNstees have established, through consultation. du¢ to regenerntion of th¢ surnunding area there is a good
opportyniry lo secure fijnding io rebuild a new centre which would fulfil the need for more aciiviiies and
service5 for wider communities.
The Community Centre Continues with Annual Family Fun Days which includes barbecues, food stalls, book
stalls, martial art & boxing exhibition, dawah table, talk5 by prominent Muslim personalities, ice-cream van, fair
rides, face painting, separate sisters section. mehndi artists, fire brigade. andoth¢r r¢l¢v8nt activities.
To siart a pro8ram to train n¢w Imams to meei the growin8 need for spiritual and moral leadership. We also plan
to continue ihe series of events we hold and we will be inviting visiting Imams to our Community Centre who
can share with us their learning and understanding of Islam and the teachings of the Qutran.
Once a new centre is built, plans are lo organize extra services such as GCSEIA Level courses for community
members and Funerdl Services in the center, which will generate extra income for the Center.
We continue to place great importance on sharin8 0 good understhnding of Islam with other faith communitieg
and gaining an undetstanding of their culture and traditions.
