Objectives, 51Tulegies andartivilies
In fllrtherance to the above objects the Friary 5 mission 15 to einpower hotneles5 and vulnerable adult5 to rebuild
their lives by offering practical 5ervice5, advice and emotioiial support. To thi5 end the or¥anisation offered
these Specific services to beneficiarie5 during the course of the reportiiig year..
Professional advice and referral;
GP surgery..
Homeless nursing team;
Specialist wellare riJ(T ts advice:
Welfare provision of food, clothing, toiletries and household items;
Shower and laundry.
Publi¢ benefil
The principal artivity of Friary Drop-ln Limited is that of a chgritable organisation assisting the homeless, those
in temporary ac¢ommodation and the unemployed.
The trustees confimi that they have coinplied with the requirements of settion 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to
have due regard to the public benelit guidai)ce published by the Charity Commission for Englai)d and Wales.
Achievements and p¢rforman¢e
The Friary supported in the region of 1.000 visitors to the Drop-li) Centre during this period.
The eaily part ol. the period was al'fetted by the pai)demic and service Mas very Inuch restricted to the provision
of food and clothing. Hot meals were also provided and delivered to the hotels hosting rough sleepers as part of
the 'EveThone In, initiaiive.
As the period progressed, we saw restrictions eased and the Friary was able io launch the new WelfarelBenefits
Centre. This enabled more support to be provided to both existing and new visitors.
Support was also prlivided on addiction. physicalimental health services. housing and debt by support workers
and exiernal partners.
Services at the Drop-ln Centre have now evolved to a point ￿here the doors are opened to rough sleepers on a
Tuesday and Thursday for cooked break.fasts. This enables improved interaction with visitors and belter
progression opportunities.
Financial review
In the pasL the Friary has grown considerably both in the scale of activity and ihe range of services we offer to
those in need. Much of this has beeii financed through short-temi a£reemciits and the key concem has always
been the relatively low level of predictable long-terni funding relating to grants and contracts.
Iii this year, the organisatioii has continued its concerted effort of building sllstainability and diversity into our
income streams in order to safegiiard our endeavours to meet the needs of our beneficiaries. We remain
particularly reliant on the goodwill of individual and corporate donors and have made encoiiraging progress in
our efforts to promote regular donations which help to bring about more predictable income.
Poliry oll reserves
At J 1st March 2022. free reserves amounted to £425.880 {2021'. £415,381}. This represents approximately
107% of annual expenditure (2021.. 106%).
The trustees have been strategically investing reserves into charitable activity in recent years with the inteniiL)n
of developing financial sustainability and the furtherance of charitable objects for the organisaiion. The surplus
generated in this financial j'ear offsets the investment of these reserves in recent years and helps promote fiiiure
sustainabiliry of services. The demand on our resources remains extremely high and the twstees are committed
to ensuring that the charity is well resourced so thai energy can be devoted to delivering effective services rather
than struggling for siirvival.
