## **The Friends of The Three Schools Trustees’ Annual Report**

## **Objectives and Activities**

The Friends of The Three Schools exists to enhance the education and wellbeing of all pupils at Swanbourne, Mursley and Drayton Parslow Village Schools and Kingfishers Pre-School. We achieve this by organising enjoyable fundraising events and using the funds raised to provide resources, experiences and opportunities requested by the schools that are not otherwise available through their budgets.

## **Fundraising Activities**

During the year, The Friends of The Three Schools organised a wide range of successful fundraising events, including:

- Two school discos

- Two popcorn nights

- A band night

- A Colour Run

- A Christmas raffle

- ● Refreshment sales at the Nativity production and Kingfishers show

- Sales of personalised tea towels

- Doughnut sales

- ● Dare to Be Different Day

- Wonderlicious bar sales

- ● Refreshments at Sports Day

Additional income was generated through the sale of second-hand school uniform, the Vale Lottery, Easyfundraising, Bag2School collections, Stickins commissions, laptop sales and generous donations.

Income generated from fundraising events during the school year totalled £22,090.22.

## **Charitable Activities and Achievements**

During the year, the charity spent £24,981.18 directly supporting the schools and pupils. Funding was used to purchase or contribute towards classroom toys, encyclopaedias, a noticeboard, songbooks, Forest School benches, books, playground markings, play equipment, a Yoto player, art supplies, treats, diversity books, Little Wandle reading books, Christmas decorations and treats, games, a whiteboard, Book Week activities, Forest School fencing and bark, a reading corner, blinds, outdoor toys, mental health training for staff, soft play storage and a bouncy castle.

The charity also funded or contributed towards educational visits and experiences, including trips to the cinema, the Chiltern Open Air Museum, the Natural History Museum, Windsor Castle, Bletchley Park and Cotswold Wildlife Park (including train travel and ice creams), as well as an Explorer Dome visit and an African drumming workshop.

## **Financial Review**

Opening balance: £25,462.03 Total income: £33,077.18 Total expenditure: £36,304.28 Closing balance: £22,234.93

The charity remained financially stable throughout the year. Income was generated primarily through fundraising events and donations. Expenditure focused on providing educational resources, enriching learning opportunities and supporting school projects. The trustees consider the level of reserves to be appropriate to enable future planned activities to continue while providing a safeguard against unforeseen expenditure.

## **Governance**

The Friends of The Three Schools is governed by its Constitution. Trustees are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. The committee meets every two months throughout the year to oversee fundraising activities, financial management and requests for funding from the schools.

## **Public Beneft**

The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The charity’s activities directly benefited pupils by providing additional educational resources, facilities and experiences beyond those funded through the schools’ delegated budgets.

## **Plans for the Future**

In the coming year, The Friends of The Three Schools intends to continue organising community fundraising events, recruit additional volunteers and raise funds to support learning resources, educational experiences and projects that enhance the education and wellbeing of pupils across all four settings.

## **Independent Audit Report**

## **Auditor:** Gordon Browne

I had the pleasure of auditing the financial records for **Friends of the Three Schools** for the financial year **1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025** .

## **Summary of Key Findings**

• Accounting records were well maintained, accurately capturing all income and expenditure, and were reconciled to movements in the bank account.

• Internal controls regarding the authorisation of expenditure were well maintained in accordance with internal policies.

- No material misstatements were identified during the audit.

• I recommend aligning the financial year-end with the charity submission year-end so that both are coterminous. This will improve accuracy and simplify future charity submissions, reconciliations, and audit processes.

Overall, the financial records were maintained to a good standard and provided a clear and accurate reflection of the charity's financial activities during the period under review.
