ediication for the SODS ofdeceased clergylnen. It has occupied its presenl site overlooking the City of Canterbury for over
150 year5. In 1982, Ihe School became co-educational.
On 20 May 1996, tlie School was incorporated uiider Ihe Compallies Aci as St Edmund's Sebool Callterbury. a collipany
limited by guaiante¢ lTrlumber 03201223} and not havmg a share capital. Tlie School has been accepted as a Regisrered
Charity (Number 10563821 by the Charity Commission and is dtsignattd as a School having a religious character.
The company aquI￿d 5,000 ordinary sharcs of £ l each in STEDS Limited (a wbolly owned wbsidiaryl on S November
1998. STEDS Limited acts as agent for certain letting activities.

The Govemors reviewed ihe Charity Commission Governance Codc ai their Strate8y Day Meeting ID October 2020 and
February 2019 which concluded that they follow the core principles. The Governor5 will be commissionin8 lh¢ Asso¢iaiion
of Goveming Bodies for Independent Schools (AGBISI to undertake a leview of governance effectiveness in the Coming
months. AGBIS have undertaken over 200 reviews in the last 20 year5 and are well placed to provide expert guidance on

St EdmLllld's was inspecred by ISI in December 2018 for a Regulatory Compliance fDspection {RCI). No grade is aWard￿j
ai an RCI, ortly a pass or fail, and the School passed every area of this inspection. The School was also inspected by Eoth
ISI and Ofskd (boarding) in September 2015 and received a verdicr of 'outstanding' in many areas.
In the Spring of 2022, the Headmaster notified the Departmeni of Education that the School would like to increase ils
maximum capacity Irom 600 to 650 pupils. As is usual practice. the DfE commissioned ihe ISI to undertake a'short
inspection, as this is iecoguised as a material change. On 27 May 2022 the ISI inspecied the School and confinned tlLal St

f￿ancial itnpact of the public benefit that independent schools provide to botb their local area and the UK'S GDP.
St Edmund's School was evaluated as contributing £15.6m to tbe UK GDP and £9.6m to the Callterbury local
authority district last year. Additionally. we hav¢ beeD 3ss¢ssed as supporting Dearly 450 jobs nationally, of wbich

We have been sympathetic towards the plight of Ukrainian families with the ongoing invasion of their ¢ountry.
