Chairman’s Annual Report
The Building Works have continued, albeit slowly. Costs have increased due to a variety of reasons so we were happy to let the programme slip as this allowed us to accumulate income to pay the bills.
-
There have been a number of significant events at the Hall including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee party, several Wedding Parties and the recent Magic Night.
-
We have tried to resist the planned new flats on the former Dunlopillo site opposite the Hall but our objections were not supported.
-
We have installed new coloured lighting in the Main Hall and a Hearing Loop with help from Pannal Silver Surfers.
-
We have upgraded the CCTV network and the Snooker Hall had been redecorated and carpeted.
-
The new War Memorial Area was now nearing completion and sponsorships have been secured for the two bench seats.
-
Our new Studio, Committee Room and restored Activity Room were all being well used and helping with our income stream.
Looking ahead the plans for the forthcoming year include the following matters:
-
We will shortly complete the new War Memorial Area with poppy embossed railings and new oak doors to the old Memorial Hall.
-
We will work to attract more fund raising events and activities
-
We will continue to improve our new website and the old site will be taken down early in the new year.
-
We want to grow the current list of “Friends” of the Village Hall so we can better promote our activities to the community.
-
We will try to improve the soft landscaping at the front of the building to give a better appearance in the street scene.
-
We hope to install EV charge points and the Hall had now been included on the Council’s Schedule of sites across the District but much depends on their funding.
-
We will promote the Snooker Club which is currently under used.
-
We will try to secure the long term future of the main Car Park opposite the Hall which is vital to our ongoing growth and survival.
We will encourage Regular Users to make us of our Newsletters and Website to promote their own activities and events. This could include attractive images and links to get in touch.
Receipts and Payments Account for the year ending 30 September 2021
A copy of the audited account is included above and in comparison with the previous year the main features are as follows:
-
Room hire income was now recovering after the Pandemic
-
We have achieved over £19,000 for reinvestment in our facilities.
-
We have received £921 rebate from our Solar Panels to offset utility costs
-
Utility costs had risen but were likely to rise much further this coming year. This was a growing issue for all of us but we had taken steps to minimise energy losses and maximise thermal insulation.
-
Insurance costs have risen once again.
-
There has been good income from the Bar which has been well supported from contributions made at the annual Pantomime.
