Activities in 2023/2024

Throughout 2023/2024 Trustees have seen the continued development of activities and hirers.

The Council’s responsibilities regarding maintenance and insurance have been fulfilled over this year and the only unexpected expense was the external drainage from the recently refurbished toilets, the cost of which was shared between the two councils. A level of reserves has been set by trustees to take account of six to nine months running costs to ensure the financial stability of the hall.

With increased activity comes the need for careful monitoring of the cleanliness of our building. A local cleaning company has been engaged to offer a reliable and professional service.

Following the implementation of a key safe entrance for hirers, the conditions of hire were revised and gave hirers added time to set up and clear equipment and this is working effectively. Trustees have agreed to a variance in hire arrangements where necessary.

The Secretary to Trustees continues to provide excellent service to Hirers and Trustees; and to both councils through regular meetings and thanks are offered to her.

I would like to officially recognise the support that Councillor Robson provides to the facility through his knowledge of the building and its many idiosyncrasies. Many minor repairs and “caretaking” jobs are often undertaken voluntarily by him.

Thanks are offered to all trustees who attended the bi-monthly meetings and continue to work on behalf of the Parish and Town Councils and in the interests of the community as Trustees.
