A Brighter Recovery Space for Chlldren in Theatres

A heartfelt wish was submStted by a member of the Theatres team,
asking for the paediatric recovery area to be transformed into a
more welcoming and chlld-friendly Space. The goal wa5 simple but
powerful - to help yOLtng patient5 feel calmer and more at ease as
they recover from anaesthetic.
Thanks to the generou5 support of our donors, we've been able
to make this vision a reality. The area has been brightened with a
vSbrant Health Tree Foundation-branded wall vinyl, and beautiful
sky,-:.themed ceiling tile5 have been in5t&lled
inspired by the
mus.b-loved lift artwork near the Rainforest Ward.

Following a heartfelt request from staff. stunning nature-
themed murals were installed in the SDECIIAAU quiet rooms
at both Scunthorpe and Grlmsby hospitals.
These quiet spaces are often used by patients during times
ol distress, uncertainty. or while receiving diffi.cult news. The
addition of calming artwork helps to create a more soothing
and supportive envlronment.

life-sized horse sculptures, created by talenled
local artlsts working alongside schools and
community groups. Eight of these remarkable
aTtWOTks were auctioned online by Potters
Auction Saleroom in April 2025.

Here's a wonderful example of the difference the Bravery
Lions make in our hospitals.
Arwen recently received her bravery gift in the X-ray
department at Diana. Princess of Wales H05Pltal in
Grimsby - a special moment made p055ible thank5 to
the ongoing generosity of the Grimsby Cleethorpes Lions.
Caistor Lions, and Humberston Lions.
These groups regularly donate bravery gifts to help
comfort and encourage our younger patients during their
hospital visits. Their kindness truly makes a difference in
easing children's worries and bringing smiles to their faces.

Tony's Sponsored Walk Supports
Neuro Rehabilitation
Amethyst Garden

Diana Princess of Wales
Hospital, Grimsby
Tony, who organised a sponsored walk along
Cleelhorpes seafront to raise funds for the Neuro
Rehabllilation Centre al Goole Hospital.
Joined by his wile Emma, family, and friends, Tony
took on this challenge aller receiving care at the
centre himself. Their inspiring goal was to raise lunds
lor a specialist Motomed Exercise Chair lo support the
iehabililation ol other palienls.
Thanks lo their incredible efforts and the generosily of
supporters. the chair ha5 now been delivered
a milestone made possible by their hard work and
dedication.
On Friday 25th July 2025, the Amethyst Garden at
Diana. Princess ol Wales Hospital Imas officially opened
by local celebrity Tornmy Turgoose. The garden was
created in rnemory of Lee Clarke, who sadly passed
away from bowel cancer in 2022 at the age 0150.
Funded by £20,000 raised by Lee's family and
Iiiends, the project has transformed the space into a
welcoming. accessible area for patients and visitors.
Key features include murals of Cleethorpes Pier and
Grimsby Docks, improved wheelchair access, new
seating area5, a memorial bench, and dedicated family-
friendly zones.
It was a pleasure to welcome Tony and Emma back lo
Goole Hospital recently lo see lirsthand the difference
their fundraising has made.
Thank you to Tony. Emma. and eveiyone who
contributed- your support Is truly changing lives.
The garden is already providing a peaceful and
supportive environment, helping to fulh'l Lee's wlsh and
furthering HTF'S commitment to enhancing patient and
visitor wellbeing.

A heartfelt thank you to Becky, Mike, and their daughters for their generous
E2,000 donation
made possible through Becky s successful grant applicatlon
to the Pavers Foundation. a charitable initiative by Pavers Shoes supporting
causes close to their employees. hearts.
These funds will be used to purchase a specialist wheelchair designed to provide
enhanced PDslural support for patients. enabllng more indlvlduals to Safely
access the outdoor areas of the unit. This will promote greater well-being and
independence for those receiving care.
A request for this Important equipment ha5 already been Submitted, and we
eagerly await its arrival.

A Remarkable Tribute

James Harris Retraces His
Father's Hospital Journey
This year, the staff and pupils at Old Clee Primary
Academy in Grimsby carne together for a very -J.
special and heartfelt caLJse. In memory of their -Tr
much-loved pupil, Reggie. who sadly passed away,
the school organised a fundraising day tilled with
compassion and community spirit.
A man whose father spent two month5 in intensive
care completed an incredible IOOkm challenge
between three hospitals to raise vital funds.
Last summer, John Harris was admitted to the
Intensive Therapy Unit IITUI al Diana, Princess of
Wales Hospital after battling pneumonia, organ failure.
and undergoing open~heart surgery. After three and
a hall months in hospital. he finally returned home
anc5, thanks to the dedicated staff im Grimsby, made a
remarkable recovery,
Wanting to give Something back to the team who
cared for his dad, John's son James organi5ed a
special fundraising run. On 6 September, Jarnes
retraced his father's hospital journey. starting at Louth
County Hospital and travelling to Grirnsby Hospltal,
Castle Hill Hospital, and back lo Grimsby.
Along the way, he was joined by friends, family. and
hospital staff who ian, biked, walked, and cheered
him on throughout the challenge. The event wa5 a
fantastic display of community spirit and gratitude,
raising fLJnds to support the work ol the ITU team.
By taking part in 'Wearing Red for Reggie., the
school raised an incredible EL287 in support of
the Rainforest Ward at Diana, Princess of Wales
Hospital in Grimsby
a ward close to Reggie's
heart.
This generous contribution will make a rneaningful
difference to the young patients and families who
spend time on the ward. providing comfort and
care at a time when it's most needed.
We are truly grateful to everyone who took part,
donated. and supported this thoughtful initiative.

Donation Supports The Pink Rose
Suite
October is Breast CanceT Awareness Month. and during
this time we were pleased to welcome members of the
Brigg and District Breast Cancer Care Group to The Pink
Rose Suite.
The group made a generous donation of £6.000
to support the suite, helping to make a meaningtul
difference to the experience of local patients receiving
treatment.

Marywalks 50 Milesto
Support Breast Unit
A dedicated tundraiser walke(I between
two hospitals to raise money for the breast
unit that cared lor her during her cancer
treatnient.
Mary'vickers was diagnosed with breasl
cancer after a routine mammogram in
June 2024. She received treatment at
The Pink Rose Suite al Diana, Princes5
of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. as well as
radiotherapy at Castle Hill Hospital in
Cottingham.

In October. Mary, 68, embarked on a ffvé-
day walk between Castle Hill and Grimsby

extremely generous donation of 200 plants to
help enhance the Scunthorpe site.
We extend our sincere thanks to 5cunny BikÈr5 for
visiting Scunthorpe Hospltal for their annual Chr15tmas
Toy Run. This year's collectlon was the largest to date
and wlll bring a great deal of loy to children spending
the festive perlod in hospital.
In addition to providing the plants, colleagues
from all three organisations also volunteered
their tlme to work alongside our Estates team to
plant them across the hospital grounds.
We are also very grateful to the local supermarkets
who supported the appeal by hosting donation trollie5,
helplng to make this wonderful community effort

The Trustees have updated the Charity s reserves
policy following a review ol the guidance set out by
the Charity Commission. and the significant chan9es
lo Charille5 Statement of Recommended Practice
ISORPI 2019.
The Trustees are under a legal duly to apply
charitable funds in furtherance ol charitable
objectives within a reasonable time of recelving
them. Under norrnal circumstances, a period of
12 months Is considered rea50nable,' therefore
the Charity would expect to hold reseNes
approximately equal to the running costs. Thi5
amoun15 to £288,000 per year for fundraising
staff costs, office costs and governance costs. The
Trustees recomrnend that in addition to running
costs, general expenditure costs for six months are
