Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Provision of a high standard of primary school education to around 80 children at the Crakehall School at Mettupalayam and 25 children at the Nambikki School at Palayanadukuppam. An increasing number of the children at Mettupalayam are from the local Tribal community. Six years ago only 20% of these children attended school – this has now increased to 90%. We continue to support three of our former pupils from the Tribal community who have successfully gained entry to Further Education Colleges to study Engineeing and Arts degrees.
High standard of nutritional school meals, provided daily, using local produce, some grown on our own farm employing local labour.
Ongoing support for healthcare and the disabled, working with a local doctor, local Lions and Rotary clubs to supply weekly health clinics, eye clinics and the provision of therapy and wheelchairs for local disabled people.
Continued support to women’s groups to promote small business development and to local farmer by gaining preferential loans.
