AchievementsandPerformance Achievements and Performance

2023 2023 has has been been a a good good year year of of growth, growth, trying trying new new things, things, and and continuing continuing to to build build church. church. Some Some of of our our achievements achievements include, include,

2

Throughout Throughout the the year, year, we we have have been been encouraged encouraged to to see see the the church church grow grow in in some some key key areas, areas, whilst whilst we we also also maintaining maintaining a a healthy healthy concern concern regarding regarding the the church's church's financial financial stability. stability.

Our Our attendance attendance has has been been steady, steady, with with new new members members joining joining the the church, church, getting getting involved involved in in events events and and activities. activities. This This includes includes new new families, families, which which continues continues our our trend trend of of seeing seeing the the average average age age of of our congregation our congregation begin begin to to fall, fall, and and more more children children attending attending our our Sunday Sunday services. services.

We We are are continuing continuing to to put put an an emphasis emphasis on on family, family, and and making making our our Sunday Sunday services services a a great great experience. experience. As As part part of of that, that, we we launched launched our our new new Summer Summer Sundays Sundays programme programme which which changed changed our our usual usual church church services services throughout throughout August August into into various various different different activities. activities. These These included included prayer prayer walking walking around around Rushden, Rushden, a a picnic picnic at at our our local local park, park, a a family family activity activity service service and and a a BBQ. BBQ. All All of of these these services services brought brought us us together together as as a a church, church, gave gave us us the the opportunity opportunity to to worship worship Jesus Jesus differently, differently, and and enabled enabled us us to to do do church church outside outside of of our our usual usual building. building.

We We also also started started a a new new outreach outreach programme programme called called Open Open House, House, consisting Consisting of of a a warm warm space space on on Saturday Saturday mornings. mornings. We We ran ran this this for for a a period period of of a a few few months months during during winter winter to to mixed mixed success, success, as as we we managed managed to to reach reach and and provide provide a a safe safe space space for for a a few few homeless homeless individuals, individuals, but but didn’t didn't see see the the numbers numbers of of people people using using the the space space we we had had hoped hoped or or anticipated. anticipated. The The process process did did however however teach teach us us a a number number of of lessons lessons about about building building teams teams and and the the willingness willingness of of our our congregation congregation to to help help serve. serve.

Prayer Prayer continues continues to to be be a a focus focus of of our our church, church, with with regular regular weekly weekly prayer prayer meetings, meetings, and and a a major major time time of of prayer prayer and and fasting fasting during during the the start start of of the the year. year. Towards Towards the the end end of of 2023, 2023, we we launched launched Encounter, Encounter, which which is isa a monthly monthly prayer prayer meeting meeting on on Sunday Sunday evenings evenings with with a a particular particular focus focus on on meeting meeting with with the the Holy Holy Spirit. Spirit. We've We've seen seen a a core core group group of of members members join join us, us, and and we we will will be be looking looking to to expand expand and/or and/or adapt adapt this this emphasis emphasis in in our our church church going going forward. forward.

Financially, Financialy, we we do do still still recognise recognise that that the the church church is is at at some some risk. risk. Whilst Whilst we we have have seen seen new new members members join join the the church church in in 2023, 2023, we we have have also also lost lost a a few few long-term long-term members, members, who who have have either either left left for for positive positive reasons, reasons, or or passed passed away. away. Some Some of of these these members members were were key key givers givers into into our our church, church, and and this this has has led led to to a a fall fall in in our our general general offerings offerings of of approx. approx. £3740 £3740 as as compared compared to to 2022. 2022.

Alongside Alongside this, this, we we have have seen seen our our costs costs rise rise along along with with the the cost cost of of living living crisis crisis in in the the UK. UK. Specifically, Specifically, we we have have seen seen the the cost cost of of our our energy energy bills bills increase, increase, along along with with the the increased increased cost cost of of our our church’s church's insurance. insurance. These These are are both both essential essential costs costs that that the the church church needs needs in in order order to to run, run, and and whilst whilst we we have have worked worked to to keep keep these these costs costs down down as as much much as as possible, possible, we we do do need need to to adjust adjust to to the the new new reality reality of of these these higher higher costs. costs. Overall, Overall, this this has has meant meant that that the the church church ran ran at at an an operational operational loss loss of of -£6851 -£6851 for for the the year year of of 2023. 2023.

Our Our finances finances remain remain a a situation situation we we have have been been trying trying to to bring bring under under control control as as much much as as possible, possible, but but this this has has been been an an ongoing ongoing problem problem for for many many years. years. Therefore, Therefore, we we are are now now beginning beginning to to approach approach a a point point where where our our cash cash reserves reserves will will not not be be able able to to sustain sustain such such losses losses in in the the long long term, term, with with our our bank bank balance balance at at £16,015 £16,015 at at the the end end of of 2023. 2023. Therefore, Therefore, we we will will need need to to see see either either and/or and/or both, both, an an increase increase to to our our income, income, or or significant significant changes changes in in how how we we operate operate to to bring bring costs costs down down further. further.

Whilst Whilst we we want want to to operate operate in in faith faith of of Christ’s Christ's provision, provision, we we recognise recognise that that this this situation situation pOses a poses a potential potential existential existential threat threat to to our our organisation. organisation. Subsequently, Subsequently, solving solving this this issue issue will will be be an an essential essential first first priority priority for for our church our church going going forward. forward.
