The Governing Document of the Charity is a Model Constitution and Trust Deed adopted 23 September 1993 as amended on 2[nd] February 1998, 12[th] November 2006 and 19[th] May 2009.

Trustees are appointed by the Church Council who oversee the induction and training procedures to enable new trustees to function in accordance with Charity’s objects and the requirements of Charity Law.

Samuel Josh Johnson and John Guy resigned as trustees, and Richard Taylor and Jennifer Taylor are appointed as trustees from 1[st] of April 2024

Section C Objectives and activities

The objects of the Charity are for the benefit of the public:

To advance education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time think fit.

TAR

The Church Council is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church building and elsewhere and to become part of a lively Christian community based at New Life Pentecostal Church. The Church Council seeks to maintain a place of worship that is available as often as possible for prayer, teaching and counsel and seeks to involve other community groups in using the facilities available. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and preaching.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects

When planning our activities for the year the Church Council have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit, and particularly the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. We try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our church community through:

To facilitate this work, it is important that we maintain the fabric of the Church building so that meetings and activities can be run in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

. Regular activities: During the year under review, we have maintained:

As in previous years we held a successful and enjoyable International Day at which we celebrated our cultural diversity and unity.

Our website (nlpc.org.uk) is kept up to date and has freely downloadable resources including sermons and Bible study notes.

Overseas mission support

During the year we have:

Continued to sponsor the education and welfare of three children in Uganda until December 2024.

TAR

3

Donated money to support a missionary couple in Southeast Asia.

Supported 5 pastors working in India and provided clothing and food for widows and children in need.

Supported children in a school and Church in Uganda.

Supported Love Russia organisation during Christmas.

Local community work

We have provided Bibles for two year groups of children in a local primary school.

We have continued to play our part in the local ecumenical partnership (Churches Together in Hemel Hempstead) and Pastor Joel has been elected to be the chairman of its management committee.

We have again this year collected and donated goods to a local charity (DENS) that provides help and accommodation to homeless people and also provided food donations for the Dacorum Foodbank. We have also been able to distribute vouchers to enable people to receive emergency food parcels from the Foodbank.

We support Liberty Tea Rooms, a community Hub in Hemel monthly. During Christmas we supported Corner gate Foundation, a charity that works with ex-prisoners.

Staffing

At present Pastor Nanganuri is our sole employee. There are volunteers who help in running regular activities.

Section E Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

We endeavour to ensure that at least one month’s running costs are kept in reserve.

Details of any funds materially in deficit

None of our funds are in deficit.

Further financial review details

The Charity is reliant on the offerings made weekly by those attending the Church. The Church Council endeavours to ensure that all funds received are prudently used.

If at any time, there is a surplus of working funds these are deposited in an easy access deposit account.
