## **Additional governance issues**

New Life Pentecostal Church (Hemel Hempstead) is an autonomous church in fellowship with Assemblies of God in Great Britain and Ireland. The Governing Document of the Charity is a Model Constitution and Trust Deed adopted 23 September 1993 as amended on 2[nd] February 1998, 12[th] November 2006 and 19[th] May 2009.

Trustees are appointed by the Church Council who oversee the induction and training procedures to enable new trustees to function in accordance with Charity’s objects and the requirements of Charity Law.

No further appointments have been made.

## **Section C Objectives and activities**

The objects of the Charity are for the benefit of the public:

- To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Faith of Assemblies of God in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time may think fit.

- To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind including through the provision of counselling and support in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time think fit

To advance education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time think fit. The Church Council is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church building and elsewhere and to become part of a lively Christian community based at New Life Pentecostal Church. The Church Council seeks to maintain a place of worship that is available as often as possible for prayer, teaching and counsel and seeks to involve other community groups in using the facilities available. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and preaching.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects**

When planning our activities for the year the Church Council have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit, and particularly the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. We try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our church community through:

- Worship

- Prayer

- Learning about the Gospel

- Developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus

- Provision of pastoral care for people both within and outside the church

- • Missionary and outreach work

To facilitate this work, it is important that we maintain the fabric of the Church building so that meetings and activities can be run in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment.
