Luton Pentecostal Church Trustees Annual Report for 2022 AR

The following report is to the Charity Commissioners and seeks to inform the commission of the status and activities of Luton Pentecostal Church, Registered Charity number: 1054318

Luton Pentecostal Church has continued to abide by the Constitution/Management Document aligned for the purpose of the model deed of Assemblies of God Inc. There have been no serious incidents that need reporting during the year. The pastor remains in good standing with AoG, which is reviewed and renewed annually, and has had his DBS certified by them as meeting the requirements of their bylaws.

The church continued to serve its members, and the community, by upholding the Holy Scriptures through regular meetings and events which are open to members and the general public. The school closed this year due to the aftereffects of covid on families, many who were single parents working on zero-hour contracts and were unable to afford the fees. LPC ensured that all the relevant closure procedures were carried out in collaboration with all the agencies concerned.

Luton Pentecostal Church has found new premises which have more outdoor space for parking and for playground/activity space. The new building is in Houghton Regis and at the time of writing this report an offer has been made and provisionally accepted.

We have been meeting temporarily in Harpenden at the Kings school. While using this venue, we provide a safe environment for children to develop healthy friendships without negative peer pressure at the same time as learning about faith and social values through play, discussion and learning. We hold talks on many issues that these children face e.g. bullying, peer pressure; bereavement, internet safety, to name a few. We are looking to continue and expand these activities as soon as we have relocated to our new premises. Communal groups exist for adults to socialise in their respective gender groups or together and involve organised sports activities and dialogue ranging from cars to politics and current affairs. The church also supports literacy and numeracy in these groups for any person or persons needing this support, this may involve help with job applications or general form filling. The pastor offers marriage and relationship counselling or help with mediation in family disputes. All these activities are open to members or non-members and are accessible to the general public.

Luton Pentecostal Church welcomes all people who desire to find faith in God or to grow in their relationship with Him, within the church. We believe that a personal relationship with Jesus is the only way to heaven. There is much comfort to be brought to the community from the Scriptures, particularly at times of bereavement, homelessness, unemployment, mental health issues or personal stress. The church sees its role as displaying the love of God to all people, regardless of age; gender, race, religion, disability, sexuality or other social status. We believe that we have a mandate to serve the multi-faceted problems that a diverse culture, like the one that Luton encounters. The church has various departments and volunteers which support the vision.

We uphold and promote British values through our church, children and young people’s work, Sunday school programme and general performance and are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. The structure, governance and management remain unaltered, and the church and departments look to build up reserves to benefit the public.

Signed by C A. Oakey on behalf of trustees, with the approval of this report from the trustees.
