Objectives and activities
o enhance the development. care and education of children primarily
under statutory school age and also of children and young people ol school
age ty encouraging parents to understand and provide for the needs of
their children through community (voluniary managed) groups and by:
(a) offering appropriate play facilities and training courses, together
with the rights of parents to take responsibility for and to become
involved in the activities of such groups, ensuring that such groups
offer opportunities for all children, regardless of race, culture,
religion, disability or means;
(b) encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their
families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such
needs in the local area:

In planning our aclivitses for the year, the management committee keep in
mind the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit at all meetings.
Its aim is to advance education for the publlc benefit by the provision of a
pre-school for chlldren aged 2 years to school age Ilving in the Stroud
Valley.

during the year
Sept 2019 to July 2020..
Number of children at the start ol the Pre-school year in Septembei
2019 was 9, and there were 14 children on the register at the end
of July 2020.
Staff contiacts reviewed and updated. One member of staff made
pemianent.
Pre-school's Single Central Recofd updated (simpler forrnat) taking
aifvice from PATA and requirements set ty Charity Comrnissi(￿ and
Otsted.
Pre-school took the children on l (Xrtlng￿lp during Ihe school
year."

legislation or inspection changes.
Regular use of altemative venue- good working relatsonship

• Local vicar attends Pre-school once a month doing 'open the book.

Involved in a number of aclivitie5 at the local Plimary School (by
invitation).
Local elderly resident visits iwice a week and plays ihe piano whilst
the children sing their favourite nursery rhyrneslsongs.
Organised a number of talkslvisits from people about jobs etc. (eg.
police officer).
Pre-xhool organisedlinvolved in 4 fundraisirvJ events durlng the
year prior to COVID-19 and lockdown. Raising vrtal fvnds lo enable
the continued operaiion of the Pre-school.
Coronavirus pandemic cancelled three lundraising events, Including
its main fundraiser - parlicipation at the Nibley Festival. This put
considerable strain on the setting's finances.
Pre-school's annual Easter egg hunt had to be cancelled. Some of
the eggs were sold at cost price to offset some expenditure. the res
was donated to the local Village Hub ft)r people who were shielding.
Monies received from several establishments, eg. Nibley Festival
2019, to support a number of prolects and the contlnued running of
Ihe Pre-school.
Conversety, the Pre-school held l fvndraising event for Children In
Solid working felationship with North Nibley Village Hall where the
Pre-school is held. Wlth a member of the Committee representirKJ
the setting on the Village Hall Commlttee.
Continuing with strong relationshiplcollabjradon with the
Headteacher and staff at North Nibley Church of EnglarKI Primary
School
The Pre-school committee has fofged a stronger
ielatronshiplcollaboration with North Nlbley Church of England
Primary School's PTA. Working together at events the Pre-school
eithef partiapates in at the Primary School, or the Pre-school itself
organises.
Pre-school staff attended a number of training courses during the
ye￿.
Due to Coronavirus Ihe pre-school closed on 20 March 2020 and reopened

o a Teduced number of chIld￿n on 2 June 2020, operating on 3 days a
eek rather than 4.5.
Action plans (C(*onavirus superseded by Reopening) vKitten,
version controlled and updated on a v￿eklY basis;
3 out of 4 slaff ffijrloughed at closure. Two retumed to work in June
2020 and one rern￿ned ftjtloughed.
Reopening checklist written, togethei with associated paperw¢yk to
assist the reopening of the Pre-schwl in June, including information
fof those parents who had indicated that their child was to attend
the setting from reopening.
• During closure of Pre-school links to home leaming activities sent to
parentslcarers.
September Action plan, risk assessrnent and revised Parental
Agreement written.

Financial review
e management committee aim to preSe￿e a reserve of £7,000 to
provide Wor￿.ng capital in periods of low activity and income to provide
unds for future expansion. The Pre-school also has a lund of £15,000
reserved specifically for the case of setting closure to pay redundancy and
olher debts.
