DUDLEY CROSSROADS TRUSTEES. REPORT (INCLUDING DIRECTORS. REPORT) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 The trustees present their annual report and financial statements forthe year ended 31 March 2024. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the charity's governing document, the Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January 20191. Objectives and activities Our aims remain the same as they have since 1982: - To provide support services to carers and those they care for. - To provide high quality care for those in need. - To maintain the "good standard awarded by the Care Quality Commission. - To seek and obtain new funding sources to sustain the service. Public benefit The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what a1vitieS the charity should undertake. Achlevements and performance Significant activities and achievements against objectives Dudley Crossroads still remains focussed primarily on respite care for carers and continued to offer some free regular support to carers. We also provide a service to elderly, isolated people in their own homes, assisting with shopping, meal preparation and tasks around the home. This year we have increased our workforce by 2 part time staff to enable us to provide more of our valuable services.

REPORT) (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Financial revlew Our carer support service is funded by Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust, donations and by any sucSsful bids_ Talks with Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust have been successful and we have agreed on our contract for this year. It is important to recognise their support over many years. We are constantly exploring new avenues of funding opportunities. We have been successful in some of our funding applications this year and would like to thank the following for grants reiVed . Carnbrea Trust- £10,000 Pamala Barlow Trust- £1,000 Cole Charitable Trust- £1,000 Dudley Building Society - £1,500 Department for education - £1,500 Baron Davenport - £700 Many of our Carer Support clients top up their hours of respite by purchasing from us at a not for profit rate. Pay scales were increased by 9.20/0 this year. We anticipate an increase of 8.50kn in 202412025 in line with the Living Wage increase. Reserves pollcy The designated reserve stands at £80,000, which is the amount considered equivalent to 13 working weeks expenditure to cover unforeseen financial difficulties that might otheiSe impact directly on charf(able activits-es. The reserve is under regular review. The charitable funds at 31 st March 2024 were as listed below. Restricted funds in current assets.. Designated funds in current assets- £80,000 General funds in current assets - free reserves- £67,996 Plans for future periods Vve maintain our readiness to bid for funding opportunities as they arise and are currently buildirvJ up a core number of privately funded clients. The demand is greatly increasing for carer relief- we would love to be able to extend our service to reach more informal carers. During 2023-2024 we drew on our free reserves to help fund our service, and looking forward to 2024-2025 this will conts.nue whilst we actively explore more funding streams.

REPORT) (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Structure, governance and management The charity is controlled by its governing document. a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. All the directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. The management committee meets Dn a regular basis to manage the affairs of the company and to formulate poliw. The management team organises the day-to- day running of the scheme, assisted by administrative staff and care support workers. The trustees, who are also the directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during theyear and up to the date of signature of the financial statements were: Mr M Carpenter Mrs J Head Mr H Friesner Mrs K Shaw MrA Miller Mrs B M Ingram (Resigned 31 October 20231 Recruitment and appolntment of trustees Recruitment of trustees is achieved by publicity through appropriate channels, including direct enquiries. There is a nominated board member to undertake training and induction. Organisational structure Dudley Crossroads is rated a5 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission. Staff undergo extensive training including safeguarding adutts and children, health and safety, fire training. first aid, infection control, confidentiality, food hygiene, radicalisation, domestic abuse and training required by the Care Quality Commission, Dudley IHC and others. All Carer Support staff hold Level 2 in Direct Care. All staff are Dignity Champions and Dementia Friends. Remuneration pollcy No trustee receives any remuneration, but all professional staff are fvlly paid, including a statutory pension scheme. Other matters The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in pla to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. The charity has purchased third party indemnity insurance for the trustees against liability arising from wrongful acts in relation to the charity. DUDLEY CROSSROADS INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF DUDLEY CROSSROADS I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Dudley Crossroads (the charity) for the year ended 31 March 2024. Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the charity (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 20C6 (the 2006 Act). Hamng satisfied myself that the financial statements of the charity are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable DI¢t]0n$ given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5}(b) of the 2011 Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confimi that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act: or the financial statements do not accord with those records- or the financial statements do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination,. or the financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK arKJ Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021. The registered Offi is Unit 6, Watt House, The Innovation Centre, The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford, West Midlands, DY6 7YD, England. 1.1 Accounting convention The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charity's Igoverning documentl, the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. ("FRS 102.) and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effective 1 January 2019). The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102. The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a Statanent of Cash Flows. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £. The financial ststements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below. 1.2 Golng concern At the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trntstees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements. 1.3 Charitable funds Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtheran of their charitable objectives. Restricted funds are subjed to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements. 1.4 Income Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any perfomiance conditions have been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be reived. Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified of the donation, unless perf0mlan conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation. Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise if the charity has been notified of an impending distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.
DUDLEY CROSSROADS NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Accounting policies (Continued) 1.5 Expendlture Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third party. it is probable that a transfer of economic beneffts will be required in settlement, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of dir*t costs and shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. There costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. 1.6 Tangible fixed assets Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses. Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases: Fixtures and fittings 25 % reducing balan The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale proceeds and the carrying value of the asset, and is recognised in the statement of financial activities. 1.7 Impalrment of fixed assets At each reporting end date, the charity reviews the carrying amounts of its tsngible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impaimient loss. If any such IndatIOn exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any). 1.8 Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-temi liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities. Basic financial assets Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets classified as retsivable within one year are not amortised. Basic financial liabllitles Basic financial liabilities, including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities dassified as payable within one year are not amortised. Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or services that have been ar4uired in the ordinay course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are Classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they Sre presented as non-current liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.

Temiination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when the charity is demonstrably committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide temination benefits. 1.10 Retirement beneflts Payments to defined contribution retirement benefit schemes are charged as an expense as they fall due. 1.11 Leases Rentals payable under operating leases, including any lease incentives received, are charged as an expense on a straight line basis over the term of the relevant lease. The assets of the scheme are held separately from those of the charity in an independently administered fund. 15 Unrestricted funds The unrestricted funds of the charity comprise the unexpended balances of donations and grants which are not subject to specific conditions by donors and grantors as to how they may be used. These indude designated funds which have been set aside out of unrestricted funds by the trustees for specific purposes.
