Southport Hesketh Round Table Registered number: 1054120 Report of the trustees for the year ended 10 April 2025
The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 10 April 2025
History, Objectives and Activities of The Trust
Southportis a registeredHeskethcharity,RoundnumberTable 1054120.is constituted undera Trust Deed adopted on 27 April 1995 and
The objective of the charity is to raise funds for distribution to other charities and good causes, as decided by the trustees, through various activities including Christmas Sleigh collections, as well as assisting in other events such as the Mad Dog 10k run. Additionally during the year under review, the trustees were exploring new events which may raise additional funds for focal causes.
The trust deed gives the trustees the power to apply the funds in such a manner as they think fit to or for the benefit of any charitable object or purpose.
Management and Governance
Details of the trustees are set out on page 1. Trustees are elacted by members of the charity in a general meeting or a maximum of three trustees may be co-opted by the Board of Trustees. The current trustees will hold office until the next Annual General Meeting when they will offer themselves for re-election or re-appointment.
The trustees that served and are registered during the year ending 10 April 2025 were:
Mr Bob Sung
Mr Jordan Shandley
Mr Marc Foreman (resigned 19 July 2024)
The trustees delegate the daily running of the charity to the elected Chairman of the charity who acts as charity co-ordinator.
The chair of the trustees, who is elected at the Annual General Meeting, is responsible for the induction of any new trustee which involves awareness of a trustee's responsibilities, the goveming document, administrative procedures, the history and philosophical approach of the charity. A new trustee would receive copies of the previous year’s annual report and accounts together with a copy of the Charity Commission leaflet “The Essential Trustee:What You Need To Know’.
The trustees annually review the risks that the charity faces. In the year under review these mainly relate to the economic climate potentially affecting attendance at fundraising events, risking the profitability of these events.
The trustees do not receive requests for grants. The trust deed does not allow for the provision of grant payments.

Achievements and Performance
The Santa Sleigh event took place, bringing smiles to the faces of Southport residents, both young and old.
The Mad Dog Race was delivered but managed by an extemal company. The charity's involvement in this event was limited to providing volunteers on
race day, for which a donation was gratefully received.
During the year to 10 April 2025 the trustees were considering the provision of a new event aimed at raising additional funds for local causes.
Following the tragic events in Southport on 29th July 2024, the trustees made a decision to raise funds for the families of those present at the dance class - this was done via a public "Go Fund Me” appeal. This raised in excess of £200k to the year-end date, which has been redistributed to those families.
Running Costs And Assets
Running costs were kept to a similar level as in the prior year as the Mad Dog race was again
managed by an extemal company.
Costs incurred in relation to specific events are kept to a minimum in order to maximise the funds raised.
The success of these events is reliant on the membership giving time and services on a voluntary basis.
Donations are made from the net proceeds of each event.
As there are no ongoing costs the balance sheet is intended to remain positive at all times.
Reserves
The balance on reserves held at 10 April 2025 was £20,149.
Donations to good causes were slightly higher than the previous year, though Y/E 10 April 2025 had itself seen lower fundraising activity (apart from the Go Fund Me appeal referred to above) so lower reserves held.
investments
The charity does not hold any investments.
Risk
The major risks facing the charity are indentified and trustess have in place controls to mitigate these risks.
Appropriate insurance cover is arranged for all major events.

Statement of Trustees Responsibilities
Charity law requires the board to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity at the end of the financial year. It must also document whether operations are at a surplus or deficit for the year. In preparing the accounts the board is required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonably prudent
-
prepare the accounts on an ongoing concem basis unless it becomes inappropriate to assume the chanity will continue to operate - State whether applicable accounting standards and best practice have been followed
The trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy performance and the current financial position at any given time. The trustees are also responsible for ensuring that the accounts comply with current charities legislation, regulations and the trust deed. The trustees are responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
This report was approved by the board on February 6th 2026 on behalf of the trustees.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Southport Hesketh Round Table
| report on the accounts of Southport Hesketh Round Table for the year ended 10 April 2025, which are set out on the following pages.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
-examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was canied out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006; and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities have not been met; or
(2)to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
