TRUSTEES' REPORT
FOR THE YEAR END 31 OCTOBER 2022
Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that year. In preparing these financial statements the trustees are required:
-select suitable accounting policies and then apply consistently;
-observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
-make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements, and
-prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
In the last twelve months, the Alma Hospital Trust has continued to play a vital role in supporting some of the most disadvantaged communities in Pakistan. Our dedicated team has remained steadfast in their commitment to serving those in need. 2022 saw Pakistan hit by a historic climate emergency. The flooding to several regions of Pakistan saw communities displaced, the Pakistan Government was quickly overwhelmed, the international response from Governments was lethargic and many charities based on the ground in Pakistan stepped in to meet the needs of affected communities. We are proud to report that our staff teams quickly mobilised, bought, and shared urgently required medical expertise and food supplies with those on the ground. Our new staff members have now settled into their roles, making increasingly significant contributions to our operational processes. Furthermore, our team continued to successfully deliver outreach health camps in the surrounding remote villages, significantly improving their access to healthcare and distributing much needed medicines. This amazing work wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our staff, donors and trustees, and we would like to offer our deepest gratitude. As a UK-based charity,we have been at the intersection of the political and financial fragilities of Pakistan's economy. New strenuous guidelines were introduced to combat financial irregularities. These processes were introduced before being fully developed. Sending the charity's money to Pakistan became extremely difficult during this time. Through the generosity of Board members and supporters on the ground were we able to ensure operational costs were being met. The lack of political stability in the country continues to be an issue that we try to thoughtfully navigate.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT FOR THE YEAR END 31 OCTOBER 2022
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 October 2022 set out on pages four to seven.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trutees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is required.
It is my responsibility to:
-examine the accounts under Section 145 of the 2011 Act
-to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act); and
- -to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of the independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. I also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required for an audit and consequently, no opinion is given whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
