## **Structure, governance and management**
The project operates as a registered charity under a constitution.
## **Induction and training of trustees**
Trustees are encouraged to take part in the project away day.
**Organisational structure including recruitment and appointment of trustees** The project is strategically managed by a committee of trustees and advisors who are recruited for the support and knowledge they can bring to the project. The project manager is responsible for the day to day management of the project and the staff and volunteers. The management of the Project Manager is undertaken by a nominated trustee with specific skills and experience.
## **Training and staff development**
All staff are taken through induction training and are Staff are encouraged to take Continuous Professional Development opportunities when they are available and affordable.
## **Aims, Objectives and activities**
To:
- Provide youth programmes in the community for educational, recreational and leisure purposes
- Advance education, training and employment opportunities
- Offer learning through a wide range of activities such as art, drama, music, and media.
- To increase young peoples confidence and increase involvement in the life of their community
- Promote healthier lifestyles, in particular to develop pro-active projects that tackle the issues for young people arising from substance misuse, risk taking behaviour, domestic violence and anti social behaviour.
The project works with young people aged 13-19 years and offers up to three detached sessions a week with holiday activity during the Easter and Summer breaks
The Project works within the South Youth Focus Partnership providing coordinated youth provision alongside other voluntary sector agencies and statutory services. The partnership meets regularly and works with Young Manchester to provide a coherent offer to young people in the area.
## **Activities undertaken for public benefit in relation to objects**
In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charities Commission’s guidance on public benefit and the work was planned with reference to the trustees and monitored through the Trustees’ meetings.
The Project continues to offer a range of activities that meet the objectives of the project. This work is planned with young people and also considers the view of young people in the community. Partnership working enables the project to avoid duplication of provision and make effective use of limited resources.

## **Achievements and performance**
We continued our regular detached sessions in Old Moat Park and Withington. These were supplemented with additional funding from GMP, MCC, NHS and Southway Housing. The purpose is to use positive interventions to reduce anti social behaviour Withington Village The team targeted a group of about 30 young people identified as causing ASB. The project's primary goal has been to build trust and establish positive relationships with young people, offering them alternative activities and opportunities for personal growth. This included a visit to a professional music studio, where the young people had the opportunity to perform, observe the inner workings of a studio, and engage with real-life music professionals. Feedback from the young people was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as "the best day they have ever had."
Sessions held at Withington Methodist Church have allowed the team to offer different activities, including cooking sessions that emphasized nutrition, arts and crafts workshops, discussions on sex and relationships, education and work-related topics, and promoting youth voice. The young people actively participated in creating their own ground rules for the sessions, contributing to trip planning and cost estimation for Christmas and Easter, and provided input on upcoming activities and speakers.
There were Easter and Summer Holiday Activities in the Old Moat Park and the team supported activities at Old Moat Children’s Centre. The summer activities were kicked off by Little Fest.
OMYOP supported Unity along with Community Minded and WELSafe, the Beech Road Park Fest as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival
A big event for us was the opening of the exhibition of work done by children and young people from the 20M21Partnership, led by Unity Arts, at the Whitworth Art Gallery. The formal opening was attended by Councillors, supporters, representatives of the Whitworth, Young Manchester, the Manchester Secondary PRU, staff volunteers and young people. The work on display was largely done during the pandemic over zoom and through small workshops. The Whitworth Artivists supported the work and the workshops. The exhibition was held in the School of Art from the beginning of April till the end of May 2022. In part curated by young people it was an amazing opportunity for young people to see their work displayed in a gallery. For many of the children, young people and families from Old Moat it was the first time they had visited an art gallery and we made sure they looked at other areas and participated in workshops. We noticed a marked increase in confidence in visiting the gallery.
The Depot, we continue to pursue getting water turned on at the Depot and are making small incremental gains. MCC Corporate property traced the water and together with Neighbourhood team funded a new pipe. We hoped to have the toilet block refurbished in October. We hit further blocks and it is an ongoing situation. We have applied for DCMS Youth Investment Funding to develop dedicated youth building at the Depot. We are part of a council led bid. Lack of facilities limit how we can develop activities and the funds we can realistically apply for.
We attend Old Moat Ward meetings and as a partnership we play an active role in the development of the South Network. We have been developing links with the NHS and Southway Housing.

Staff and volunteers contributed to the development of the Manchester Detached Youth Work Protocols.
Staff took part in Safeguarding training and Drug and Alcohol training run by WELSafe.
The Trustees express their thanks to the staff for the job they are doing in offering youth work opportunities to the young people in Old Moat and Withington.

The trustees have managed to build up the Charities unrestricted reserves and are able to honour financial commitments that the Trust enters into for the year ahead.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2023 which are set out on pages 6 to 8.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; and
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **Description, nature and purposes of the fund**
The Withington Project
The Withington Project is restricted to spend on staff, activities and equipment for the specific project. This is made up of £5000 from GMP, £2500 from Southway Housing and £4000 from Manchester City Council. There was £1,247 salaries expenditure in in the financial year. The project is to provide detached youth work one night a week for a minimum of 12 weeks and then 38 weeks of a youth club based at Withington Methodist Church. It is part of a multi agency approach to address issues in Withington village.
