Tech4all currently runs the Innovation for All Award, an open annual competition for projects that use technology to reduce poverty. This is operated in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Engineers. In addition to a cash award to the winner or winners, Tech4all also provides mentoring support and can consider follow-on contributions. Alongside this, Tech4all is partnering with the charity Centre for Global Equality (CGE) to identify and support projects that use technology to reduce poverty. |

Para 1.20 | Recent winners of the Innovation for All Award include the Chimneys for Africa project, which is successfully tackling smoke pollution, a major form of health poverty, in the Massai communities, and having a profound social impact on the culture by bringing men and women together. Another recent winner is working on a project to allow farmers in low-income communities to bring fresh produce to market using small, portable refrigerated units operated by solar power. Meanwhile the collaboration with the CGE has allowed masters students at a leading UK university to develop a project to reduce transport poverty in the UK through intensified use of shared vehicles. |
