Trustees Report 2022/2023 Fressingfield Playingfield Management Committee.
The trustee during 2022/23 were: Barry Hopper Steve Curtis John Parden Gary Deekes Mathew Newman
In 2022/23 we saw the product of the fund raising efforts of this and previous years for the substantial refurbishment and refit of the childrens play area on the site.
The funding listed in the accounts is £7,500 from Garfield Charity and £20,000 from Mid Suffolk District Council. Wicksteeds was our chosen contractor. The works commenced during the 2022/23 financial period and completed in the 2023/24 financial period with the assistance of further grant funding. The total project value was £56416.
The committee still suffer from a low income base whilst maintaining substantial liabilities in terms of the infrastructure of the site, including the play area, the structures, the car park, the access driveway, the playing field, the tennis courts and the bowls green.
Contributions to the site maintenance is made by the Parish Council in the form of organising and funding the grass cutting of the playing field and the play area. All other maintenance requirements on the site are the responsibility of the Playing Field Management Committee, although the Fressingfield Parish Council is helpful with small scale grant aid.
The principle forthcoming area of expenditure include the completion of the Ply Area for which grant funding has been approved, maintenance requirements of the structures on site and repairs to the access driveway. There is no glamour attached to ongoing repairs and consequently grant funding is difficult to obtain.
The site is used for village fetes and the playing field is used by a local sporting dog training group on Sundays, activities that contribute to the funding of the site.
The trustees and the management committee are actively encouraging alternative uses for the site.
