The trustees who are also directors of Ihe ¢harty for the purposes of Ihe Companies 2006. present their
report with the financial ststements of Ihe chanty for the year ended 30 June 2024. The trustees have adopted
the provisions of A¢¢ounting and Reporbng by Charrties" Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo
charrties preparing their accounls in accx)rdance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of IrelarKI (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
Ockenden International works to support refvgees, displaced people and their host communities as well as
those retuming from where they had fled wrth a view to facilitatirvJ the self_re11an￿ of these groups and their
communitses. Ockenden Intemalional believes that all refugees and displaced people have a right to live with
dignity and to be supported in seeking to achieve self-reliance.
Whilst histOr￿ally, Ockenden Intematsonal and its predecessor. the Od(enden Venture, wDrked overseas and
in the UK, Ockenden Internati￿al has. since %)08. operaled solely as a grant-making chartly.
Through its grant-making activth'es, Ihe key airrts of ocke￿Ien Intemational are:
• To support projects that enable displaced people and communtiies to parbcipate in their own development
• To ensure that those affected by displa¢ement have the opportunity to fijlfil their FL)tenlial and that
displacement is not a ba￿ler to achteving this
. To support wojects that help people lo overwne dependency on sh￿-terM aid
• To provide diSpla￿d people with the opportunty to be heard and ensure the mosl vulnerable are ir￿lUded

The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance coniained in the Charity Commission's general
guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charitys aims and objecb'ves and in planning future activities.

1. The Ockenden International Prizes
Ockenden Intemational PrEes reward innovats've and successful projects by Organi￿￿OnS working to provide
SUSlainatAe self-re1lan￿ direclly ￿nefitting refugees anwor aispiaced people.
During the year O¢kenden Intematronal ¢ondu¢ted its 12th annual open wmwition. with a re￿d 174 entries
from 56 countries submitted for ¢J)nsMJeration for the four annual £25,CM]O Ockenden International Prizes.
The 2024 prizes vMe cyen to prcie¢ts or prcKJrammes focused C￿ di¥Aaced people andlor refugee
self-reliar)ce anywhere in the workl.
The judging process consisted of three slages:
. an internal compliance prO￿sS to ensure all entries adhered to the 2024 entry rules
• the entries. induding entry foms and abbreviated financial documents. were reviewed by four OckerKlen
Trustees. who drew up a 5hortlist of 10 entries for consideratKJn by an independent judging panel, all of whom
are experts in their chosen field. The trustees aLso considered wkEther the ￿ganiSatIonS who h&J entered
were suitable winner5 of chartty funds
' each member of th￿ yearfs eight-person judging panel for the 12 finalists VRS provided wrth a full set of the
shortlisted entries

Monday 25 March 2024.

Ockenden will award its 13th annual prizes in March 2025. The call for entries, which launched a fifth bxize for
projects advanong the self-reliance of refugees andlcf asylum-seekers living in the UK, was made on Sunday
1 September 2024 with a three-month deadline for submissions, which dc6ed al mKlnight (GMT) on Satufday
30 November 2024.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
A Statement of Financial ActsvIt￿S is included on page 6.
There was a surplus of funds of £295,243 (2023.. deficit £661). Gross income for the year was £326,762
{2023: £129,734). Voluntary incA)me sources represented £248.439 (2023.. £59,371). £241.532 of this income
is due to be received after the year end and is shown as accrued incx)me within debtor5. A further £78,323
{2023'. £70.363) was eamed from investrnents.
All funds now held are unrestricted and at 30 June 2024 Ihese arrthnted to £3.155.672 (2023 - £2,860,429).
Investmenl policy and ow-ectives
Ockenden's investments are held in a (Thibinatr'on of investments managed by Rathbone5. comprising
equitses, fixed inc(yne and allemab've investments, and cash. The equities frjnd does not invest in companies
whose products are asscoate(I with the ams industry.
Reserves policy
Ockenden's free reserves sland at £3.155,672 (2023: £2.860.429). It is the Trustees current F4)licy to fund
spending from eamings from financial investments. along with donations and legacy in￿rne whilst. insofar as
is FM)ssible, retaining the value of the sum invested. This is to ensure that Ockenden wll have sufficient
funding to fulfil the long term plans in respect of the annual prize. The Trustees reviewed the position in
relation to the reserves on 16 October 2023.
Going concern
After making appropriate enquiries. the Trustees have a reaSona￿e expectation that Ockenden has adequate
resources to meet any commitments and sustain a (￿parable level of athvity for at least ihe next twelve
months from the approval of Ihe financial statements. and tr￿refOre Ihe financial statements have been
prepared on Ihe going COn￿M basts.
STRUCTURE. GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
O¢kenden Intemalional is a company limited by guarantee. as defined by the companies Act 2006, and a
registered charity Its goveming document is its Arb¢les of AsS￿atron. vthich provide for a Board of Truslees
(the director5 of the company) who are also the members of the company for the purposes of ¢(xnpany law.
The Board of Trustees have ulb'mate respmsibility for the management and administration of the charity.
The Board compnses of not fewer than 3 and not more than 10 persons. The Board has the wwer to app)int
additional trustees and seeks to ensure Ihere is an appropnate mix of skills ar¥J experien(% on Ihe Board
when exercising that power.

Donations are irKluded in incx)me wthen they are received. Fcf donatsons re￿iVed under Gift A'd,
income tax is accounted for on a recervable basis.
Legacy income is included when the charitable ￿rnpanY is legally entrtled to the income and the
amount and the timing of receipt can be quantified with reasonable accuracy.
Investrnent income is a¢¢ounted for on a receivable basis.
Expenditure
Liabilits'es are recognised as expenditure as swn as tsre is a legal or ￿nstructive obligation
cammitting the chanty to thal expenditure. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in setllement and the amunt of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is
accounted for on an accruals basis and has been dassffEd under headings thal aggregale all ¢ost
related to Ihe category. Where costs cannot be directly amributed to particular headings they have been
allocated to activities on a bask8 consistent wrth the use of resources.
Grants payable are payments made to Ihird parties in the turtherance of the chantable objectsves of the
