Charity objects, trading review and future developments

The charity was formed via the constitution adopted on 23 November 1995. The charity is also known by the names Earlybirds, Nightowls, Swallows and Pheonix Pre-School. The objects of the charity are to provide the necessary facilities for the daily care, recreation and education of children and to advance the education and training of persons in the provision of such care, education and recreational facilities.

All current users of the facilities are members. Trustees are appointed or reappointed at the Annual General Meeting.

The charity provides affordable childcare facilities to children of parents living or working in the Suffolk area. The charity is registered with Ofsted and can provide care for up to 30 children at any one time.

This year has continued to be affected by the Covid 19 Pandemic with lower numbers attending the out of school clubs. The pandemic resulted in schools in the area offering before after school services at a reduced rate. This has greatly impacted the number of school age children using our services for these clubs. We have extended the out of school services to incorporate the Pre-school age children. A number are now using their funding allocation to cover an extended day and we hope to grow this area further in the coming year. The Trustees are aiming to return to pre pandemic attendee levels and improve the profitability in the next twelve months. The charity is aiming to establish reserves equal to three month’s expenditure to cover the increased commitments of the new building.

Trustees

The trustees of the charity during the year were:

Mrs G Basson Mrs L Burgess Mrs S Taylor Mrs H Richmond (Resigned 10 May 2022) Ms L Matukynaite (Appointed 10 May 2022)

All trustees are appointed by resolution of the existing trustee body.

Reserves policy

The charity operates with minimal reserves. The trustees are endeavouring to increase the reserves to cover a months operating expenditure.

On behalf of the Trustees

Mrs S Taylor Treasurer
