Activities

The Charity's principal activity is the delivery of social & economic regeneration projects in neighbourhoods in east London and Essex where East Thames Group operates. Activities include programmes relating to training & employment, to social enterprise, community cohesion, volunteering, food access, health & well-being, youth mentoring and family support.

Objects: 3.1 The Relief Of Young Persons Who Are Homeless Or Otherwise In Necessitous Circumstances And Without Prejudice To The Generality Of The Foregoing By Encouraging And Assisting In The Provision Of An Integrated System Of Short- Term Accommodation And Training (Including Vocational Training) Coupled With Advice And Counselling For Young People And The Provision Of Recreational Facilities With The Object Of Improving Their Conditions Of Life; 3.2 To Provide And Assist In Providing Housing, Accommodation And Assistance To Help House People Who Are In Need Of Such Housing, Accommodation And Assistance By Reason Of Their Poverty, Age, Disability (Whether Physical, Mental Or Learning Disability) Or Sickness And To Provide And Assist In The Provision Of Associated Facilities And Amenities For Such People; 3.3 The Promotion For The Public Benefit Of Urban Or Rural Regeneration In Areas Of Social And Economic Deprivation By All Or Any Of The Following Means: 3.3.1 The Provision Of Recreational Facilities For The Public At Large And/or Those Who Have Need Of Such Facilities By Reason Of Their Youth, Age, Infirmity Or Disability (Whether Physical, Mental Or Learning Disability), Poverty Or Social And Economic Circumstances; 3.3.2 The Advancement Of Education, Training Or Retraining, Particularly Among Unemployed People, And Providing Unemployed People With Work Experience; 3.3.3 The Relief Of Unemployment In Areas Of Social And Economic Deprivation In Such Ways As May Be Thought Fit, Including (Without Limitation) The Provision Of Financial Assistance, Technical Assistance, Or Business Advice Or Consultancy In Order To Provide Training And Employment Opportunities For Unemployed People In Cases Of Financial Or Other Charitable Need Through Help: I) In Setting Up Their Own Business; Or Ii) To Existing Businesses; 3.3.4 The Relief Of Poverty In Such Ways As May Be Thought Fit; 3.3.5 The Creation Of Training And Employment Opportunities By The Provision Of Workspace, Buildings And/or Land For Use On Favourable Terms; 3.3.6 The Maintenance, Improvement Or Provision Of Public Amenities; 3.3.7 The Protection Or Conservation Of The Environment; 3.3.8 The Provision Of Public Health Facilities And Childcare; 3.3.9 The Promotion Of Public Safety And Prevention Of Crime; And 3.3.10 Such Other Means As May From Time To Time Be Determined By The Board Subject To The Prior Consent Of The Charity Commission For England And Wales; 3.4 The Development Of The Capacities And Skills Of The Inhabitants Of Communities In Local Authority Areas In Which The Parent Or Its Subsidiaries Own Or Manage Housing Stock, And Neighbouring Local Authority Areas Which The Board Considers Are Socially And/or Economically Disadvantaged, In Such A Way That Those Inhabitants Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society; 3.5 To Promote, For The General Benefit Of The Community, Good Citizenship And Harmony Within The Community Between Persons Of Different Ethnic, Cultural, Or Age Backgrounds And Between People With A Disability And Other Persons; 3.6 To Encourage, Foster, Assist And Promote Such Activities Of The Parent And Its Subsidiaries As Are Charitable And Such Activities Of Any Similar Organisations Established For Charitable Purposes As Shall Be Approved By The Board From Time To Time.
