Appolntment of Tru8tees The organisation shall have at least three trustees. Every tUre trustee sh811 be appolnted by a resolution of the trustees passed al a special meeting. In selecting persons to be appointed as trustees, the trustees shall take into account the benefits of appointing a person who is able by virtue of his or her personal or professional qualifications to make a contribution to the pursuit of the objects or the rnanagement of the charity. Annual Report (contlnued) Year ended 31 May 2024 Objactives and activities The organisation's objective5 and activities are.. 11 The relief of povety in any part of the world. 2) The advancement of public education in the vedic philosophy and Indian culture., 3) The advancement of the Hindu rel10n. and 4) For such other charitable institutions as the Trustees shall decide. Each year the trustees review the objectives and activities of Sanskruti Foundation (UK) to ensure that they continue to reflect the aims, goals and objectives. In carrying out this review the trustees hav8 taken Consideration of the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefrt including Ihe supplementary public guidance on the advancement of religion for the public benefrt. Achlev8ment8 and performance During the year, the organisation organised and ran two religious events which took place in Leicester and Harrow in September 2023. Both events were fortunate to have a well known Hindu spiritual leader, Ramesh Oza attend and members of the public had provided charitable donations to the organisalion. In addition, the organisation has provided charitable donations of £125,00012023: £95,000) out of which £25,000 was donaled to London North West Hospital and £100,000 was donated to the Shrl Vraj Bhagirathi Charitable Trust for educating tribal children. Golng concern Th8 trustees believe that du8 to the availability of reserves, there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue for at least Ihe next 12 months from the date of this report. Rlsk management The twstee8 have a risk management strategy which comprises.. an annual review of the major risks the ch8rrty may face; the establishment of systems and procedures designed to mltigate major risks- and the implementation of procedures designed to minimise any potential impact on the charity should those risks materialise. Flnanclal rnvlew During the year, the organisation received donations amounting to £220,451 {2023: £170,733) from the general public. There has been no rnaterial change in the normal activities of the organisation during the year.
Sanskruti Foundation (UK) Trustees, Annual Report (¢ontlnued) Year ended 31 May 2024 Plans for future per5ods The organisation's objective is to continue to advance and promote the understanding of the Indian culture and religion and in particular to teach the sanskrit language to others who would like to leam. In addition, the Trustees of the organisation want to organise more events known as the Katha which is an Indian style of religious storytelling, perfomances of which are a ritual event in Hinduism, and often invofve professional storytellers called kathavahchak or vyas, who recite the Hindu religious texts, such as the Puranas, Ramayana or Bhagavata Purana, often followed by a commentary, Pravachan. Responslbilltles of the Trustees The Charity's trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to the charities in England and Wale8 requires the trustees to Prepa financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the trustees have elected to pr8pare the financial slatements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). The Irustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affalrs of the chartty and the income and expenditure of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial staternent8. the trustees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently., obser41e the methods and principles in the Charities SORP., make Judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent; state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, 8ubject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements., prepare the fin8ncial statements on the going concern basis unless it 18 inappropriate to presume that the charrty will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficlent to show and explain the charity's transactions and disclose wrth reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking raasonab16 Steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularrties. Responslbllltles and basls of report As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charrties Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Indopendent examlnerf$ statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me causa to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or the financial statements do not accord with those records., or the fSnancial statements do not comply wSth the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent 8xamlnation.
