Trustees' Annual Report for the period from 01/04/2024 to 31/03/2025
Bethany Pentecostal Church
Charity registration number: 1052756
Objectives and Activities
The objects of the Church (the charity) are for the benefit of the public:
a) To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Belief in such ways and
such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time may
think fit.
b) To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the
provision of counselling and support in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the
Church Council from the time to time may think fit.
C) To advance education in such ways and such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as
the Church Council from time to time may think fit.
The main activities of the Church (the Charity) in relation to those purposes are:
• Regular Church services
• Counselling provision for local ward activities.
• Provision of paid personnel at reduced 50% of cost to oversee and manage the foodbank
within the newly created Bethany Community Outreach
• Mission support for Erdington
As can be seen from the aforementioned list of activities the Trustees have had regard for guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
The Charity is not a grant making Charity, we therefore have no formal policy.
Due to the low availability of funds we do not have a specific policy on investment.

Achievements and Performance
The day outreaches in our local area as explained in last year's report now come under the separate
charity Bethany Community Outreach (1171133) who we continue to support.
All our activities continued to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to those in our locality.

Financial Review
The Church Council recognised because of the fall in church numbers that the unsustainable mission
giving of the past three years needed to be addressed. Bethany Community Outreach were in a
position to contribute to the wages of the personnel that we supply in particular to the foodbank and
for which it could not run without. This has made a great deal of difference as has the small charges
for using the facilities of the church.
The policy of the charity is to hold sufficient funds to meet its commitments up to six months ahead
and to cover the charity's operational costs also up to six months ahead.
The only reserve is the cash reserve held at the bank which at the end of the year was £68,695.
There are no funds in deficit.
There are no uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern.
The principal source of funds are the Church Congregation and use of facilities for community
programmes. The Congregation who give regularly at church services and also exceptionally make
donations for specific needs in line with the objects.
The funds raised have been used to support the local community by the supply of paid personnel for
the foodbank, which at present couldn't afford to employ a full time or even part time manager.
In consideration of major risks - the charity has assessed and will continue to assess the major risks
to which the charity is exposed and in particular to those related to the operations and finances of
the charity and are satisfied that the systems are in place to mitigate their exposure to these major
rISKs.
Structure, Governance and Management
Our Governing document is a Constitution with Trust Deed.
The Charity is constituted as a Trust.
Potential Trustees are nominated at a Trustee meeting. If the Trustees are in agreement then the
person or persons are then approached. If they are invited to the next Trustee meeting and formally
appointed to the charity.
Newly appointed trustees are briefed on the responsibilities they have in the charity. They are given
the information pack from the Commission on being a trustee.
The charity does not network with other charities but reserves the right to donate to other charities
who have the same objects, from time to time.
