Objectives
Bethel Christian Fellowship Mission Statement .
To reach all age and people groups in our community with the gospel and to see those who are saved baptised in water and with the Holy Spirit. To subsequently promote discipleship and commitment to the Lord by encouraging and developing the outworking of each individual’s gifting so that finally, we present each one mature in Christ.
Bethel Christian Fellowship is established to provide Pentecostal fellowship for those of like faith, to proclaim and further the Gospel of God concerning his Son Jesus Christ, to consolidate converts in their faith, to maintain a place of worship for the meeting of believers, the solemnisation of marriages, funerals, the dedication of infants together with providing caring ministries and social assistance.
The charity is affiliated to The Assemblies of God in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and is a member of the Evangelical Alliance. The Church is also a Network Church of The All Nations Movement, Wolverhampton
1
Staff.
The charity is currently staffed by three part time employees, a large team of church member volunteers who undertake everything from church cleaning to conducting church services. The charity is heavily dependant on this voluntary help continuing in order to achieve its objectives in the future.
Pastoral Care
The Covid Pandemic meant that Pastor Care was carried out via phone calls to the membership on a regular basis by the Leadership Team, ensuring everyone had a monthly call, with the most vulnerable receiving extra calls. When Covid restrictions allowed “door step” visits were carried out.
Activities and Performance.
From March onwards following the Government Covid guidelines the church closed and its activities ceased. We moved to online services and distributed CD’s to those members unable to join us online. Through our online presence we were able to have Sunday School and special events including such things as a Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, Christmas party, a Christmas play, Zoom cafe and celebrate special birthdays. We also ran an Alpha course on Zoom.
We continued to contribute to the local Food Bank, Care homes and a Women’s refuge. At Christmas we delivered Mince pies to every house in the two streets around the Church.
The Church hall when allowed was used on weekday afternoons by a neighbourhood after school club “Woodys” and again the leadership see this as a great way to connect with the community.
Although closed we believe the church was still actively involved in mission and outreach work and the Church Council believe these activities meet the Commissions guidance on public benefit.
Membership.
Church Membership we hope has remained stable in line with the National trend.
Mission.
We continue to support the various projects for orphaned children in both Zambia and India. We continue to support other individuals in foreign mission’s work.
The Church Building.
The main building, foyer and toilets were redecorated to a high standard. The Church Council ensure that building is kept in excellent state of general repair.
The Church House. The tenants and rent remain the same.
2
Finances
The Annual General Meeting was postponed due to Covid Restrictions.
The main source of church income comes from church member voluntary donations and represents the funding needed for the church to carry out its day-to-day activities.
Tithes and Offerings decreased by 19 % to £44764 which included Gift Aid receipts of £6004.
Sundry income decreased by 59 % to £3523 and includes £2540 donated by Woody’s After-School Club who use our facilities, and a donation of £500 via the Charities Aid Foundation.
Missionary donations increased by 64% to £2857.
The largest outgoings were the salaries for our three part-time employees totalling £23008.
Light and heat costs also decreased due to the reduced building activities. A net loss of £3291 was made overall, but this includes accounting adjustments for depreciation of £7401.
The church savings account ended the year with a balance of £54671.
This report covers a year unprecedented inasmuch as the church and it’s activities were largely closed from March onwards due to the Covid pandemic. Inevitably much income was lost due to the absence of the traditional collections taken during services. However, many people continued to generously donate via direct payments and post. The church has weathered the storm financially and has no liabilities.
