## **Trustees report for end of year 2022**
We are a charity operating under the governing document ‘Model Constitution with Trust Deed for Local assemblies of God’ in Great Britain. Our Charity number is 1052610. We claim Gift Aid back from the Inland Revenue for valid donations under reference XN71038.
The objects of the Sherwood Forest Community Church Charitable Trust are for the benefit of the public:
- To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Faith of Assemblies of God in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time may think fit.
- To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by provision of funds, goods or services of any kind including through the provision of counselling and support in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time-to-time think fit; and
- To advance education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Church Council from time to time may think fit.
The Church Trustees:
Glenn Tyers (Chair), Mark Himsworth (Treasurer), Jill Johnson (resigned 29/05/2022), John Bryant, Lynette Bryant, and Robert Rhodes. Lorraine Whitchurch was appointed as a trustee 18/07/2022.
## Whose structure is:
Eldership – who watch over the spiritual welfare of the church and its activities.
Church Council – who meet quarterly as trustees (or more often if deemed appropriate) to consider all matters relating to the proper operation of the trust and its finances.
Leadership/Ministry Team – who make all necessary arrangements for the dayto-day operation of the Church activities including the running of smaller group situations operating under the Church banner. The administration of the Church is operated from within this team.
## 2022 Activities – a brief report
The Church undertakes an annual AGM with church members in attendance. This is done under prior notice to all to ensure the widest possible circulation. The next meeting will be scheduled using the accounts to December 2022 and this meeting is scheduled for mid-October 2023, running alongside our vision meeting for 2024. As is usual, the presentation will be circulated by Mark Himsworth (Trustee and Treasurer) ahead of the AGM and will include details of
income and expenditure for the period and a summary of the position to date. The Church remains in a strong position financially.
At the AGM held in January 2023 on Vision Sunday Glenn Tyers, Church Leader, reaffirmed the church’s vision to seek new opportunities to increase its impact within our local community. We continue in our vision to build a multigenerational, multi-cultural church, and to be a provider of spiritual wellbeing and help to those in need.
It is important that the church becomes an integral part of the community in which it is located and the area that it serves.
Income in the early part of 2022 was still recovering from for the pandemic but by the end of 2022 had largely returned to more normal levels. Giving is still in the main through standing orders etc but basket offerings were reintroduced late 2022 with a positive response, from newcomers especially.
Glenn Tyers remains as the senior leader for the church, and he continues to be the chair of trustees for the charity. Glenn will graduate in May 2023 as a full status minister with AOG on completion of his 3 years on the MIT course. It will be required by Glenn as a full status minister to commit to lifelong learning with the AOG program of CPD.
Sherwood Forest Community Church remains active with other local Churches holding regular meetings in 2022.
Along with the support we give to local activities, the church supports a number of overseas projects financially. We are kept up to date on all these projects by newsletter, personal contact, and visits to the church to give personal updates. We intend to review our regular support in the coming year to see if the projects we support are still relevant, or if they are strong enough now to support themselves; this may give us opportunities to support new projects.
We continue to develop home groups within our community to give a more personal opportunity for people to develop and grow in their Christian faith. Our vision is to grow in numbers, to help people along life’s faith journey, to encounter God, and to walk in the truth of that encounter, to help them reach their full potential and for them to have the opportunity to work out their faith in daily life and make a difference in their community. The commitment of the church leadership is to develop to the best of its ability strong links with other stake holders in the community to ensure all needs are being met. It is important to the church leadership that we are a church full of faith and remain vibrant through the outworking of God’s love within our communities here at home and overseas. We want to be ‘salt and light’ in our communities to help push back the darkness and bring the light of Christ into people’s lives.
Our vision statement continues to be helping people to “FIND” Jesus, guiding them to discover that they do “FIT” into Gods family and that God has a plan for their life and that as they begin to “FUNCTION” with in the family of God they will discover and become everything God as created them to be. As we move into 2023 this vision will evolve with a plan for church planting as numbers grow and resources become available. We did find and employ a new Associate pastor who
started with the church in September 2022, this position will help with our growth plans.
To facilitate this growth, it will be the intention of the church leaders to convert the charity from an unincorporated charity into an incorporated CIO with a possible name change by the end of 2023. We will engage solicitors, Geldard’s for this process. Costs to be approved by the trustees.
The leadership affirmed its links to the Assemblies of God denomination and to be outward looking in its approach.
