This was another year interrupted by the pandemic, so many activities had to be temporarily suspended. There were activities, whenever lockdown restrictions were lifted, though the Tuesday Evening Bible Study continued online. During this year, we began live-streaming the Sunday Morning service for those unable to attend, and for anyone outside the church wanting to watch, while people also attended in person as restrictions permitted. In addition, we continued to support missionaries financially, and helped needy families through the pandemic with food parcels, and Christmas hampers.
Activities and Achievements:
-
❖ The Charity has achieved its objectives as follows:
-
➢ Sunday Evening – Prayer meeting once a month
-
➢ Tuesday Evening – Regular Bible Study meeting.
-
➢ Sunday School – Children’s work
-
➢ ‘All Stars’ Children’s meeting on Wednesday evenings.
-
➢ Youth Fellowship (called ‘The Point’) on Friday evenings
-
➢ Welcome Hour meeting on Wednesday afternoon followed by prayer meeting except if a Sunday prayer meeting is held.
-
➢ Tots Time Group (now renamed Little Glimmers) held each Monday morning from 9.15am to 10.30am.
-
➢ Other regular services – Sunday Morning Worship and Communion.
-
➢ Café Church – less formal Sunday Evening service once a month with refreshments
-
➢ Community Work – This began because of restrictions, but continues, as there are still needy families in the area.
The Welcome Hour is a weekly meeting and tea and light refreshments are also provided free of charge. Transport is provided for those who have none. There is a Christmas Dinner once a year. Missionaries and local charities supported in 2021 were:
-
➢ Rehema Homes in Kenya
-
➢ Missionary in Nepal
-
➢ Instep Ministries (supporting missionaries)
Sunday School is held each Sunday morning during the Worship and Communion service, in a separate room from the main Sunday morning worship, and works very closely with the All Stars (which is held each Wednesday evening from 5 pm – 6:30 pm) and is a combination of Bible stories/quizzes/singing and games, although with a greater emphasis on teaching than the All Stars.
During lockdown, we stayed connected with the families of All Stars children through gifts, activity packs and food parcels.
The Point is held each Friday evening. The aim is to help in the spiritual growth of the youth by gathering together and discussing topics which are of interest and concern to young people. During the lockdown period a Zoom Youth Group was held.
The format of the Little Glimmers group is one hour’s play for the children whilst parents relax with other church members.
Missionary Department – Regular giving by the Church Members to various overseas projects. In 2021 the following missionaries and organisations were supported:
-
➢ All Nations for Christ Bible Institute and support for two Bible students there in Nigeria
-
➢ Central African Missions International
-
➢ New Life Children’s Centre, The Gambia
-
➢ Rehema Home in Kenya
-
➢ Instep Ministries (supporting missionaries)
-
