Bethesda Church 2020

Here is an overview of the activities in Bethesda during 2020. During this year our activities were restricted by government lockdown guidelines due to Covid 19. The church operated as normal up to lockdown at the end of March 2020

Parent and Toddlers

This group reaches out into the local community to support and help families. We ran 2 sessions on a Wednesday with approx. 50 families attending over the sessions

Mustard Seeds

This is for children of people attending the Sunday services at Bethesda. They are given craft activities as well as bible stories and teaching.

Campaigners

Campaigners is for children of infant and junior age. It runs on a Thursday night and provides crafts, games and biblical teaching to the children

Youth

This group is set up for secondary school age. They have many activities and outings. The approach is inclusive to all, but with the intension of sharing the Christian faith with them

Knitting Group

The Knitting group was set up to create a meeting space for people who may feel lonely or cut off from friends. They met and spent time knitting, chatting and enjoying refreshments. They have knitted over 10000 hats for new born children

Café

The café on a Thursday has been a social hub withing the community. There have been about 50 people of all ages coming along, providing a place for friendship and social activities as well as food for those who attend.

Sunday service

The Sunday service has been a focal point for the church, a place of worship and teaching. It is open and available to all. We teach the Bible and bring direction and support for those who are Christians.

Home groups/bible studies

We have a midweek group that for part of the year meets in a home, but sometimes comes into the church building itself. The main aim is to allow a more intimate time of fellowship and a focused bible teaching.

COVID

Once the country went into lockdown we followed the government guidelines and stopped all face to face meetings. We provided virtual services on Sunday and in the home groups and set up a YouTube channel to make these available to all. The knitting group also did virtual meetings to help and keep in contact with the knitters.

We set up a church WhatsApp group to support the church members.
