Introduction
In 2023 we saw a great progress as a church in fulfilling our goals both in church and within the community. We trust as you read this annual report you are encouraged at the progress that has been made. Once again thank you to our Church members and those in the wider Christian community who support us.
John McCann - Pastor and Trustee
Trustee Team
In June 2023 Lynne Cross joined the trustee team with Linda McClean and they continue to serve in this capacity. John McCann is the sole employee of the charity and is paid a salary to fulfil the pastoral ministry of the Church.
Community Connections
We have been committed to increasing our involvement and support of the community in Radcliffe. This has seen us initiating the following projects. In 2023 we continued to be very active in reaching out to the community of Radcliffe. With the growing number of people coming into the area from overseas we responded by offering ESOL classes which enabled us to not only help with English language skills but also be a support to people in their daily lives. We have continued to support the local food banks in the area through donations. We have also remained an active part of the Churches together group and have conducted joint Christmas and Easter services in the market hall.
Use of Building
We have made the building available to other groups in the community. For a number of years there has been a weekly narcotics anonymous group who are helping people overcome addiction lifestyles. We have also seen the building used by drama groups and by a local mental health charity. In 2023 we were also able to give a space to two other Church groups. One of these is Hope of Life Church who are a predominately Malawian group. The other was Laoghina Baptist Church a movement based in Brazil. Both these groups used the building on a weekly basis. Occasionally we have had joint services. We also from time to time hold both council & police surgeries in the building.
With all the use we have had over the year one of our priorities has been to continue to work on our building and make it a functional and attractive space.
Church Life
In all of this our main focus has been to care and grow our Church family. Numerically we have continued to see the growth of the pandemic period be sustained. We have held regular Sunday services, prayer meetings, Bible studies and have been engaged daily in the pastoral care of Church members. We have been able in 2023 to open up to outside speakers and have been visited by Andrew Murray ( UK ), Paul Duckworth (UK), Tim Grant (UK), Dennis GoldsworthyDavis (USA), Kim Torp ( Denmark) and Mark Curtis ( UK ). We also had a ladies day were Sue Mansfield from Golboure church misistered. Church continues to be overseen by PFJ and has active relationships with a wide variety of networks and movements.
Conclusion
In conclusion 2023 was a positive year with lots of progress and many lives being touched and changed. Our intention is to grow that influence for good in 2024.
Report of the Independent Examiner
New Life Church Accounts ending 31st December 2023
I report on the accounts of the trust for the year ended 31st of December 2023 which are set out on the following pages and as the charities trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. My examination was carried out in accordance with the general direction given by the charity commissioners.
This report gives a general overview of the accounts pertaining to this year and the procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I don’t express an audit opinion on the accounts.
In connection with my examination no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
- 1) To keep accounting records in accordance with the Charities Act
2) To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements haven’t been met
And to which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
