Structure & Management

The charity is managed by the trustees, primarily John Thomas McCann, who is both a trustee and the Senior Leader / Pastor, and therefore, a paid employee of the church. The day to day management of the charity’s building, assets and finance is overseen by a volunteer leadership team of six, including Mr. McCann.

Objectives & Activities

The main objective of New Life Church, both as a religion based facility and a charitable organisation, is to promote The Gospel of The Kingdom of God, both in word and deed. New Life Church fulfils this objective in performing the services expected from a church on Sundays, in addition to being available for Weddings and Funerals for those within the local community and the church’s congregation, but also by providing support for the needy in the local area. The provision of food for the hungry, education and humanitarian support for refugees and asylum seekers, a safe space for the local community groups to meet and conduct their purpose.

Achievements and Performance

This year, the second year of social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions, has seen a continuation of structural and cosmetic improvements to the building and grounds owned by the charity, in an attempt to make them fit for purpose, but also to make them inviting

and appealing, in the hope that more community associations and individuals would use the building.

The church/charity, with the assistance of volunteers, run ESOL classes, open to the public, but, primarily for the benefit of refugees and asylum seekers located within Radcliffe. There is also the offer of help with benefit claims, housing, furniture, food.

It also runs Art classes, again open to the general public but with the elderly, physically and mentally disadvantaged as the primary beneficiaries.

The building is used each week by two other church / faith groups who have lost use of their previous facilities.

The charity also facilitates Narcotics Anonymous meetings, Police Surgeries, Cubs and Scouts meetings, Mother and Toddler groups, Drama groups, Mental health self-help groups. It has made inroads into the local community, working closely with Radcliffe Interest Companies and other local charities.

Funding and Resource Application

Despite the national COVID-19 impact, over the past two years, on public buildings and churches in particular, and because of the conscious decisions made by the leadership to create a comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and safe space for our community, paying due deference to National Government Guidelines and Medical Professional advice, this year has seen the church congregation steadily increase, and consequently, so too, the offerings and Gift Aid rebates, in addition to nominal rents charged that cover expenses, some small local government grants and a regular anonymous donation made via the charities trust, the charity is blessed to be increasingly financially stable; Consequently, the daily management of the building facility and the Pastoral care offered to an increasing number of

beneficiaries, demanded a paid for service from the Pastor / Trustee. The leadership team, as representatives of the church congregation, and therefore financial donors to the charity, in the absence of Mr. McCann, devised an affordable and commensurate salary package, which was submitted to the trustees for consideration and application.

Believing this to be a true and fair report of the activities for this financial year, and having been approved by the board of trustees,

I submit
