Annual General Meeting Summary for Year End 2024
Once again, a big thank you to all congregation members who consistently give of their time and resources to ensure that both the Church and all its varied activities run smoothly and successfully. Thank you for every penny given, every minute made available to volunteer in our various ministries, opening your homes or serving individuals and the community without any fuss or fanfare. Without you, none of what we seek to do for God would be possible. Thank you to those who live out their daily relationship with the Lord Jesus at home, at work and wherever you find yourself in the week.
We continue to be a family orientated church with respect for all ages and backgrounds, acknowledging that no one is perfect, we are all on differing stages of the journey of faith and all learn in different ways.
Alison Heaton continues to oversee the Children’s ministry and we are continually looking for suitable helpers to join the children’s team as we seek to share the love of God with the younger generation. Treasure Kids is run weekly during school term times on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings in different venues. GiG (Growing in God) is our children’s discipleship session which takes place during Sunday morning services.
Pastor Daniel continues to lead the youth work and bring the life changing message of the gospel in engaging ways to the youth of our community.
Sue Wallace continues to run Monday morning Coffee Club which remains very popular. We have continued our bi- monthly Lunch Club for those who are open to a unique presentation of the gospel. Again, this has proved popular and all available spaces are usually taken. We continue to seek the Lord as we minister to the elderly population in our community. We are grateful for the continued support of St Leger Homes (whose building we use for Coffee Club) and DMBC through the community support officers.
The garden at the communal hall was completed in the autumn and the project handed over to Cambeth Community Project C.I.C to continue the maintenance and ongoing use of the garden. Remaining funds were passed to Cambeth Community Project C.I.C following authorisation from the grant maker.
Sharon Budhi continues to run Life, Craft and Coffee, a club held at the Communal Hall. This club is enjoyed by those who attend and is self funded by donations. And continues to bring the church into contact with more local residents.
Pastors Les and Daniel continue to work with the local schools, offering their assistance in any way that would benefit the school. They continue to do school assemblies and lessons. In the Autumn term Long Toft Primary in Stainforth opened its doors to Pastor Les allowing him to take assemblies, something we have sought to do for many years. Les remains a Governor of Edenthorpe Hall, a local Primary School.
The food bank continues to operate on a cash basis, taking referrals from the community and local charities, including local schools. The church also takes a monthly donation of food which is supplied to the DN7 Food Bank based in St Mary’s Stainforth.

In 2023 we were delighted that a parent of one of Treasure Kids Club attendees nominated the church as his charity of choice, raising money via Just Giving, to allow the church to put together quality hampers for families in Stainforth. He did this again this year not only raising funds for hampers but also to be used to assist families across Doncaster (not limited to Stainforth) who needed assistance in any way we deemed fit. With the help of the local Community Officers, Council members, local charities, schools, churches and the local DN7 Food Bank we were able to identify many families to whom we supplied hampers in the days just before Christmas and provided ongoing support into 2025. We were also able to donate a significant amount of food to the local Oncology Department of Doncaster Royal Infirmary as they were running short of food supplies they give to their patients. All food handed out was accompanied by a church leaflet highlighting our services. The remaining funds can be used for assistance to families outside of Stainforth and beyond Christmas. Thank you to the volunteers, who shopped, stored, put together and delivered hampers to local families. Our links with the local community continues to increase. Whilst there are no promises that this will be an annual event, should the church be able to do so we may repeat this exercise in 2025.
Pastor Les serves as the Chair of Renew Doncaster Limited, a local charity which provides assisted accommodation to families who are homeless or at risk thereof. This charity is in the process of being wound down and great strides were made towards this this year. Thank you to church members who volunteered their time to clear the house and clean it before being placed on the market for sale. The closure of this charity in 2025 will free up Pastor Les to devote more time to the church.
As leadership we felt a strong leading by The Holy Spirit to have a greater presence in Stainforth in the coming years. In 2024 we began holding family services on the 4[th] Sunday of the month at the Community Resource Centre at 3pm in the afternoon. This was advertised via our weekly Treasure Kids club, social media and 1,000’s of leaflets delivered door to door. We have stuck to the theme of Jesus throughout the year and invited several guests to tell their story of faith. We have provided food on occasion with Pizza, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Indian food supplied by a local takeaway and a full-blown Thanksgiving meal in November and a subsidized coach trip to Scarborough in July. Whilst the numbers attending started out well and increased, we began to hit a lull from April onwards. However, we are pleased that a number of local families attend each month. We continue to seek God’s will for Stainforth, and the services will continue as a minimum in 2025 and we are seeking to grow our weekly presence in this community.
In terms of highlights for the year, these included our successful Mothers’ Day Breakfast, Easter Eggstravaganza in Edenthorpe and Stainforth, Participation in Harry’s Day a memorial event remembering the life of Harry Peace who passed away from cancer and was an attendee at one of Treasure Kids activities, Stainforth Gala, coach day trip to Scarborough for our Treasure Kids Families in Stainforth, Preparing for Christmas evening in Edenthorpe, and Nativities in Edenthorpe and Stainforth. We came together with our friends at The Church of The Good Shepherd to organise a Big Community Event in Edenthorpe in May which followed on from successful events in previous years that marked the Queens Jubilee and the Kings Coronation. We were able to give away free literature, promote both churches and what we do and hold a joint service on the Sunday morning.
Other events included a presentation by Good News for Everyone (formerly Gideons) who share Bibles in schools, hotels and hospitals and everywhere people will take them, we participated in the annual Shoe Box appeal with Samaritans Purse. Volunteer staff underwent First Aid training gaining certificates for 3 years. A 4 session teaching block was undertaken on Sunday evenings in the autumn on the Holy Spirit and was enjoyed by those who attended.
Turning to the finances. The income for the year was £75,010.63 compared with the previous year’s figure of £72,828.54 i.e. an increase of approx. 3%. Thank you to all those who give faithfully to the church. Again, without your giving and sacrifice we would not be able to function as a church. It is notable that increased income towards the end of the year (Autumn onwards) continues in 2025 as new families have started attending the church. A small number of grants were applied for to cover a number of items in relation to our various community activities. Expenditure increased to £79,810.28 compared to £68,124 the previous year. Increases were seen in salaries (approx.10%), room hire (approx. 15%) and general increase in the cost of overheads, as well as increased spending from grant support and outreach events. Giving to outside organisations amounted to £5,742.62 (£3,415.99) an increase of approx. 68%. And represent approx. 7.7% of our total income. This resulted in a loss of £4,799.65 (profit £4,704.18). We have met, and continue to meet, all our obligations as a church. The trustees continue to monitor the church finances carefully. The contribution you make is vital. Those of you who are taxpayers and have not yet signed a Gift Aid form please contact the church administrator.
Our annual gift day raised £8,320 (£14,040) for which we give thanks. The congregation continues to get behind the church’s vision to reach out to its community and further increase our presence in Stainforth. A huge thank you to those who contributed towards the Gift Day. Given the size of the church here in Edenthorpe, this is a significant amount and shows your very generous spirit! If we play our part, God has promised to do His! (Malachi 3:10). We gave 50% of this gift offering to the following charities, nominated by the congregation and those charities operate within the remit of our own charitable objectives: Passion 4 Doncaster (P4D) £1,000 who are working to pull churches together in Doncaster to inspire Mission in the town, Christians Against Poverty (CAP) £350.00, World Share (local charity working with some of the most marginalized people groups in the world sharing the gospel) £750.00, Open Doors (supporting the persecuted church) £710.00, and in 2025 Tearfund (The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund) £350, Urban Outreach (Bolton charity spreading the gospel and relieving poverty) £500.00. This leaves £500 to be distributed to a cause that God puts on our hearts.
We continue to serve the church members and the local community and will continue to be a family church holding out the truth of the Gospel offering a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. This is our mission and has not changed.
Here are the areas in which we still require breakthrough:
Breakthrough in prayer: Prayer needs to be at the center of all we do. I believe greater levels of prayer are demanded if we are to see all that God wants to accomplish in and through us.
Breakthrough in Evangelism. Ask God to remove the blinds off the unbelieving and empower us and give us the courage to share our story.
Breakthrough in miracles. Jesus and the early church’s ministry were marked by miracles. As is so often quoted that Jesus is our example on how to live – then miracles must accompany us. The early church saw many breakthroughs in many communities with a miracle.
Breakthrough in discipleship. Pray that those who have come to Christ develop a deeper connection with Him. For those who have joined the church this year to be fully embodied into the life of the church.
Breakthrough in church community. Pray that God would help us to live authentic lives with each other and give us deep friendships.
Breakthrough in Mission. Pray for our local schools, local groups, counsellors, local Government. Pray that God will open new doors of opportunity and give us workers for our many and varied ministries.
Breakthrough in Worship. I pray you will love God deeper, walk more humbly and serve more passionately.
I do believe, along with Paul’s challenge to the Galatians, that we will reap a harvest if we do not give up! Please partner with us in this harvest field. We need prayer and more workers to expand and grow. These are not the days to hold back, but rather to press in and press forward and take hold of that for which Christ took hold of us.

' Annual Report 2024 - Children s Department
2024 was a very busy year for the team at Life Church Doncaster who work in our regular clubs and special events for local children. Many thanks to all who have served at one of our midweek Treasure Kids clubs, G.I.G. and Tiddlywinks on a Sunday morning, Easter Eggstravaganza, community galas and Preparing for Christmas.
All our regular activities use a lively mix of games, songs, crafts and Bible stories to communicate the good news of Jesus to a new generation. We welcome children from all backgrounds and of all abilities and seek to model God’s love for them. Children are valued as part of the church family that meets weekly at Edenthorpe and monthly in Stainforth, where afternoon Family Services began this year.
G.I.G. and Tiddlywinks
G.I.G., a group for children aged 5 - 13 years, is provided during the second half of the Sunday Morning Service. G.I.G. stands for “Growing In God” and reflects our aim to provide children with learning activities that help them to grow in their relationship with God, knowledge of the Bible and understanding of God’s purpose for their lives. During 2024, the children covered the following topics: “The Story of Israel part 2 – Judges to Nehemiah”, “Easter”, “Lessons from Letters”, “Jesus the Answer”, “God’s Big Plan”, “Some ‘I am’ Sayings and “Christmas – What the angels told”. 4 year olds also joined the group when required – thank you to the staff for rising to the challenge of adapting learning activities to include a wider range of ages. Tiddlywinks was provided for 1-3 year olds as and when required.
Treasure Kids
Our three evangelistic after-school clubs for children of primary school age continued to run weekly in term-time in Edenthorpe, Kirk Sandall and Stainforth. Our themes during 2024 were “Jesus the Early Years”, “Peter’s Story” - including Easter, “Nehemiah”, “Daniel, “Elisha”, “Cracking Colours” - a series about the gospel and God’s plans for our lives, and “Christmas”. Once again, we have had great help from a number of teenagers who themselves used to attend Treasure Kids.
Training
Members of the team were able to attend a Training Brunch at Legacy Church at the beginning of February and were encouraged by meeting other Christians from this part of the country who are committed to helping children get to know Jesus.
Some of our teenage Treasure Kids helpers attended our Young Leaders lunch in August.
Special Events

2024 AGM report - Youth
At the start of the year we had a group of approx. 8-10 young people aged 16-18. These were mainly of college age, or late secondary school. Most of these young people have been with us for many years. Not many of them made any sort of profession of faith, but are willing to engage with Christian topics.
Our aim has always been to provide an environment that is fun, that young people can explore faith, know they are loved and understand who God is. We watch video testimonies, discuss themes and take topics from the Bible each week.
Many of these young people were coming to the age where they would be heading off to university and therefore be leaving the youth group, which made us change our approach to outreach.
With my links with the USA, as part of my role with Youth for Christ, we partnered with the Ten2 Project bringing summer interns to the UK for the purpose of doing outreach. We made the decision that the best use of their time would be to engage in outreach to those transitioning up to secondary school from year 6. For 7 weeks in June and July we ran rap and sports camps in schools, giving a Christian perspective on the theme of transitioning to secondary school (fear, hope, dreams, friendship etc.), whilst inviting everyone to outreach events. We had over 100 different young people come to at least 1 of the 4 outreach events we held, averaging 50-60 young people each week. The team also hosted a small group for those older girls within the youth group.
In September, we had 20-30 of those new year 7’s join us for the youth group each week. Each week we hosted various themed nights from baking, junk yard crazy golf and a UV party. Each week we would have 1 of our team share their story and split into small groups for prayer and discussion.
In addition to the Friday night youth group, Louise (my wife) and I have hosted a small group of 5-6 young people/young adults, for further discipleship in our home.
Throughout 2024, each half-term we would take the youth group to various youth hub events run by the Diocese of Sheffield for Christian young people. These events consisted of an Olympic night, Hope Weekend, Christmas escape room and a summer party. These events are always a great opportunity for the young people to connect with others going to Christian youth groups across the city. We also took some of our small group to a New Wine worship evening.
Now that the youth group is slowly being established, in 2025 we intend to bring a mission team from Northern Ireland in January, and we will continue to have summer interns in June and July based at the church. In 2025 we will run the youth alpha course to further develop the young people we have in their faith journey. Our small group, will continue to run on Wednesday evenings.
Thank you for all your support in 2024 and we’re believing that 2025 will be a great year.
Dan and Louise.
