REPORT FOR 2020

Please refer to our AGM minutes attached.

Our mission is threefold

CONNECT : To welcome people just as Jesus himself did.

EQUIP : To equip each other in the Word of God, to encourage the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit to flow within the church and outside into our communities.

WORSHIP: To encourage each other to Worship God both in spirit and in Truth in order to see a unity of freedom give birth to real times of refreshing in our lives.

We believe ...

in encouraging our church members to grow spiritually and to recognise their calling in God’s kingdom. Whilst there are established church leaders, we welcome opportunities for different members of the congregation to participate and contribute to the church’s calling, by means of sharing testimonies, running small groups, singing, playing a musical instrument, helping with Sunday School, welcoming on the doors, preaching of the gospel, and outreach evangelism and much more beside. In short we have a desire to see Jesus Christ lifted up to his rightful place in our midst.

As Jacob said “Surely The Lord is in this place, and I did not know it” Genesis 28:16

Draft Minutes of Bethel Christian Centre, Ball Green, Stoke on Trent.

Annual General Meeting. Held on 06/10/2021, at 7.30 pm.

A record of attendees was not made and no apologies were declared.

No minutes of a previous meeting were available for approval.

Item 1) The Meeting was opened in prayer by Ray Burton, followed by Worship Filled Song, led by Mandy.

Item2) Introduction and Outline of the Agenda was made by Pastor Tim Leech.

Item 3) Treasurer’s Report: Elaine Hall presented an overview of the Centre’s Income and Expenditure for the period - 01/01/2020 to 31/12/2020 with a comparison against the period 01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019.

A copy of the audited balance sheet was given to all attendees, detailing itemised income and expenditure, year against year and sector by sector. Despite the inconvenience of the obligatory lockdown-period, commencing in March 2020, and the frustration for us [all] to meet together as one body in praise and worship, a substantial increase in assets was generated.

Elaine made reference to Gift aid receipts and gifting to Lance’s Deaf Orphans in Kenya; our healthy opening current account balance as at 01/01/2021. No questions or queries were raised over matters pertaining to the Account Balance Sheets and acceptance of the same was proposed by Phil Hall and seconded by Ray Burton. Their acceptance was carried, unanimously.

Item 4) Phil Hall provided us with a comprehensive update on the status of Lance’s Deaf Orphanage in Kenya. The construction of the well is complete and operational. Drilling to a depth of 200 feet for a clean water source was anticipated, but by God’s Grace was realised at only 100 feet. The engineering company graciously made a proportional refund for costs saved, on his original quotation. It was determined by the local authority that the existing dormitory accommodation was unfit for purpose, and [must] be replaced. $18,000 was promised against a Tender Quotation of $60,000 and work commenced in faithful expectation. Our Lord did not disappoint and an additional $42,000 was gifted. However, the anticipated final costing has risen to $70,000, so further prayer and provision of an additional $10,000 is required. The Logos of “Lance’s Deaf Orphans” has been changed to “Deaf Child Hope”. Our Colorado contact for offerings to DCH/ LDO and oversight of the project is MR J.D. King. Contact Phil, initially for additional information and procedure.

Additional land will eventually be required for agricultural expansion and increased self-sufficiency, and career training facilities for both boys and girls. Please continue to uphold this project in your prayers and gifting.

(Continued......)

Construction of the two story dormitory is nearing completion and photos of the current status were shown on the screen.

Item 5) Pastor Tim the read Psalm 133: v1 “ [A Song of Degrees of David]. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together in unity! v2 It is like a precious ointment ... v3 ... for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Tim then reported on (a) The decisions made regarding the regrettable ‘Covid-19’ lockdown obligations, and decisions taken to protect the fellowship and avoid unhelpful confrontation with the local secular authorities and neighbours. (b) He complimented Joan on her dedication to our Lord, and Bethel, and her faith and fortitude in the face of current medical adversity. He encouraged our continued prayer for her soon recovery and return to fellowship. We miss her.

(c) He, (Tim) then informed us that Miriam had been declared clear of both cancer and the alleged Covid-19 virus, which was applauded.

(d) He expressed our appreciation to Elaine for her dedication to the duty of Treasurer and all it entails.

(c) Similarly to Maureen and her band of helpers, for the work they do with the children, which is soon to restart.

(d) Thanks to Ray Burton for stepping in during Tim’s periods of sickness and for his commitment to that task.

(e) Thanks to those in the shadows who take care of the clean presentation of the building, the maintenance, both inside and out, and to the doorkeepers. Thanks also to the ladies, for their catering endeavours, which make the outreach and other events so enjoyable.

(f) Thanks to the Zoom/ Home group leaders; also the ‘What’s App’ Communication Techies, Richard and Jordan who both work their magic with all electronic bells and whistles. Much appreciation was expressed for their achievements with the world wide video outreach which has brought gifts from abroad. (g)Then to the indispensible Worship Leaders: Ray, Mick, Michael, Alan and of course Mandy. Without them, we would have frequently been singing all the right notes but not necessarily in the same key.

(h) Chris was thanked for his camera work and also his commitment to the Intercessors meeting with Clive, Keith, and others when able, from 9-10 am on a Sunday morning. All are welcome to join.

(j) Thanks to Bob for his Sunday evening outreach meetings, which have revealed he has a fan in the U.S.A.

(k) Mandy, deservedly received a special thank you, for her unswerving support in all aspects of the ministry.

Tim then referred to Ecclesiastes 3, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Thank God for the ties which bind us throughout the world-family that is in anchored in Jesus.

Exciting times lie ahead as we reach out, both warning and guiding, to a safe harbour.

The meeting concluded with a Worship song.
