MINUTES: AGM 19[th] February 2025

1.0 Welcome:

Pastor Masai welcomed everyone and after giving thanks we enjoyed a buffet meal together. Jill Ramsden was thanked for providing the catering

Following this Pastor Masai, chaired the meeting and asked Bob Woods (Administrator) to take us through the agenda.

The 2024 AGM Minutes were accepted by a show of hands having been proposed by David Robson and seconded by Jill Ramsden.

Church Leadership/Management

During 2025 the groups of Church Council, Leaders and Eldership , met regularly throughout the year and in line with our governing document.

Land Holding Trustees

There was no change to the 4 Land Holding Trustees, one above the minimum requirement.

Internet

We have continued to live stream our services over YouTube, and via links from Facebook. The website continues to provide a valuable contact point and source of information for those searching for a local church.

Going forward, a recently formed group is looking to:

Estates

Currently our main planned additional outlay on estates in 2026 is the purchase of a new projector

Networks

Our links with ‘Churches in the Community (CIC)’ network have been good. Trevor Howard came and provide ministry to both the Leaders Group and the fellowship. As a chaplain, WVCC brought Hill Benson’s CIC accreditation under our subscription.

WVCC continued its link and subscription to Bishop Auckland Fellowship of Christian Churches (BAFCC) Currently we are assessing/monitoring the running and purpose of the group

Missions

We have continued to support various overseas missions work both financially and prayerfully. These are detailed in the full report below by our Missions Secretary, David Potts.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Wear Valley Christian Centre

This report is on the accounts for Wear Valley Christian Centre (charity number 1052523) for the year ended 31[st] December 2025. The accounts are set out on the accompanying document.

Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, which have been completed on a Receipts and Payments basis, as allowed by The Charities Act 2011. The gross income of the charity does not exceed the figure at which, under The Act, a full audit would be required. In this case it is only an independent examination which is required.

Accordingly, my examination has included a review of the accounting records of the charity, and a comparison of those records with the evidence presented - (receipts and invoices: all of which were made available to me) – but does not make a determination that they present a “true and fair view”, as to do so would, in law, require a full audit.

I have acted as treasurer for the Civil Service Sports & Social Club at my workplace, and for my local church for a period of four years up to 2017 and, within the meaning of The Act, am a competent person to conduct this independent examination.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

Having examined the accounts, and evidence available, I am satisfied that there is no reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the accounts have been prepared other than in accord with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011

Nor, in my opinion, is there any matter within the accounts to which attention would need to be drawn.

PASTOR Masai Kahindi

Friends, God is gracious! It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to be part of what He is doing in and through this church. Without question, every church is a unique work of the Holy Spirit, but I am deeply grateful to be part of this one. Though much has changed over the short amount of time we have been together, our reason for being hasn’t. We exist to build a great town and community through the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the glory of God.

It’s difficult to believe that this is my 8th annual report for you. We have been on a wonderful adventure serving King Jesus together. Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of shepherding this flock. It is a great joy and a privilege which I do not take lightly.

I want to begin by thanking everyone who prepared a ministry report. We appreciate you for giving your time in preparing that report, and I do encourage every person who calls this fellowship their home church to read these reports again even after this meeting and to note the specific points for prayer. In Mark 10:36, 51, Jesus asked a very specific question on more than one occasion. And the question was, “ what do you want me to do for you?”

These reports will help us to be specific in our prayers. What a difference it would make if everybody in the church is praying in specific ways, and everyone is prayed for in their sphere of ministry. May these reports be information that helps us to pray for God ’s transformation this year.

It has been a year where we have all experienced a lot of change and I would like to thank all the people who volunteered to serve the church here so faithfully in many different ways. Now, probably the area of church life here which needs more staff is our children and youth ministries in order to expand.

We are grateful for the team that is currently doing all they can to minister to our children, but this year, I believe God is calling us to grow our team of leaders, in order to grow that ministry and have a vibrant children and youth ministry.

It was wonderful to see the number of children coming to our church grow in 2025. We give thanks to God for all our ministry leaders. There have been tremendous efforts across the church family to build up the fellowship and care for the community throughout 2025.

For example, we’ve had the Women’s group, the Men’s group, Time for God, the Bible Study, Prayer meetings, Fellowship meals and Open Door - Drop In on Thursdays - all in an effort to build a strong family of God. Every person that has served in this church in 2025, has done so with such commitment and dedication.

The leadership, our administrator, our treasurer, our missionary secretary, those who clean the church and maintain everything to a good standard, the whole praise and worship team, those who are on the sound desk, those who do the stewarding, the electrician, those who lead meetings and those who preach, those who prepare meals for our fellowship meals, and those who stack chairs after the services, and many others who work on the background.

Each of you have helped people and are still helping people find hope. It has been a demanding year and it is not surprising that many became weary. Yet, we thank God for his inexhaustible resources and his strength which he gave to us in our time of weakness. I want to stop, recognize, and give thanks for your labours. God knows and God sees and God values deeply all your service for Him. And so do I.

Friends, it is a privilege to serve here at Wear Valley Christian Centre with such a committed team of leaders and a church with a big heart. The teamwork is something that I want to particularly emphasise. The body of Christ is built up and grows as we serve together in love with the different gifts God has given to us. Through effective teamwork we can do so much more than anyone could do on their own.

I want to thank God for the privilege of being able to take a team again on mission to Kenya in December 2025. Our time there was as always, a great blessing to the churches we ministered to and had a positive impact on the lives of all the pastors from over 28 different churches that attended.

It is my prayer that as a church we will have strong mission connection with Africa, especially Kenya where we already have good relationships with the local pastors that can easily open opportunities for us to go and minister in their churches in any way we feel the Lord is leading us.

Based on the understanding that our church was founded in the power of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders following, this year our focus and prayer is: “Now, Lord, do it again! Restore us to our former glory! May streams of your refreshing flow over us until our dry hearts are drenched again” (Psalms 126:4 TPT) because we realise, we cannot give what we don’t have.

And that being our theme for this year, we want to see as many people as possible, beginning from all the estates in our town and surrounding villages, to the rest of our region, nation and to the outermost parts of the world to meet Jesus and experience life as it was intended to be, in Him, now and forever through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, as they see the manifestation of His gifts in us and through us.

Looking ahead to 2027, which is our 100 years anniversary, we are planning a time of celebration and thanks. Our aim is to both look back at what the Lord has done, and then to look forward to what he wants to do. The theme for this year of restoration and ‘Lord, do it again’ is so appropriate. I look forward to sharing our plans with you.

So, let’s seek to be intentional in seeking God this year. Hungering and thirsting for Him, and availing ourselves to Him like empty vessels to be filled by Him. And be ready to be used for His glory here in our town as His ambassadors!
