tradition31 craft skills and provided learning opportunities lor people of all age5.
Volunteers
Volunteers continued to play a vital role in the delivery of the charity's objectives, supporting visitor seNices, exhibitions,
collections management, educational activities, retail operations and governance. The Museum was supported by
approximately 40 active volunteers duringthe year, including Trustee5, whose contribution enabled the charity to

forthe commitment, expertise and enthusiasm shown byvolunteers throughoutthe year.

Alongside this achievement, the Trustees strengthened the organisation's resilience and sustainability through the adoption ol a
new Forward Plan, irnprovements to fin3ncial oversight, implernentation ol enhanced collections rnanagement procedures and
the restructuringof keyoperational roles.
The former Curator role was successfully divided into separate Collections Manager and Operations Manager positions, creating

The Museum continued to delivera varied programme ol exhibition5, learning activities and community engagement
opportunitie5. During the year, 2.473 visitors and participant5 engaged with exhibitions, events, talks and work5hop5. The major
temporary exhibition, Power Dressing, explored the relationship between fashion, textiles and social influence, while continuing
displays and refreshed galleries encouraged repeatvisits 2nd widerengagementwith the collection.
The charity continued to provide significant public benelitthrough education and outreach. Lectures, practical workshops,
school and university partnership5. work placetnents and community events increased public understanding of fashion history.
textiles and Social history. The Museum also supported ski115development through collaborations with Arts Univer51ty
Bournemouth and local students.
Collections care and access remained central to the charity's work. Progres5 was made in improving collections documentation
through the MODES collections management system, while conSe￿ation projects, includingthe reconstruction ol a rare
eighteenth-century dress, enabled the Museum to balance preservation with public access and educational engagement.
Partnership working further extended the Museum's reach. Loans to Dorset Museum en3blÈd more than 15,500 visitors to view
objects from the collection, while the successful development olthe National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported Fashioning Our
Future project established new opportunitiesforfuture exhibitions, learning activities and audience development.
TheTrustees considerthatthese achievements have strengthened the Museum's ability to preserve and share its collections,
3dv3nce public education and ensure the long-term sustainability of the charity for the benefit of current and future
generations.
Financial Review
Financial position
The 2025 financial year waschallenging, with an overall deficit of £5k.
Although total incorneforthe yearappear5 higherthan in the previou5 year, thi5 reflectsthe receipt of one-off projectgrants.
Excluding these grants, underlying income was £20k12024.. £27kl, representing a decrease from the prior year.
Adjusted expenditure. excluding one-off project activity, wa5 £39k12024.. £57kl. The reduction reflects thefactthatthe costs ol
the Facilities and Collections contractors relatingto specific period5 of work werefunded through project grants duringthe year.
Fortunately, no expenditurewas required on roof leak repairs in 2025. However, the £7k invested in advertising did not generate
a corresponding increase in visitor nurnbers to the rnu5eum. In response, the Trustees have reviewed the marketing str3tegy
and will adopt a more targeted digital approach goingforward.
The depreciation charge of £lk12024-. £2kl returned to a more normal level followingthe write-oflol obsolete assets in the
previousyear.
Followingthe yearend, the accountingsoftware was upgraded to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and
to provide the Board with monthly management accounts and financi31 forecasts, supporting effective governance and
decision-making.
Re$etves
The rnuseum's ongoing3irn isto hold approximately51X months expenditure in reserves and a small fund lor urgent unbudgeted
repairs.
The amountol reserves held atthe year end was £20.000. Due to the current financial challenges, no reserve is currently
maintained for unbudgeted urgent repairs. these are be funded within current eKpenditure.
