Nuneaton and District Catholic Fellowship
Trustees AGM Report for 2022
This annual report will record our significant events during the calendar year of 2022. The year commenced with us updating the Constitution, for this we sought the support of Clair O Brian, a diocesan solicitor, who worked for us on a pro bono basis. Further to this Sinead Smith drafted two policies: Code of Conduct & Whistleblowing.
We the trustees of the Nuneaton Catholic Disability Fellowship are confident the Fellowship activity works to meet the needs of the beneficiaries and in accordance with the requirements of the constitution. We can confirm the following :
-
The committee meets monthly apart from August
-
A treasurers report is given at every meeting
-
Reports are made at each meeting on contacts with beneficiaries. Each committee member maintains contact with a number of allocated beneficiaries.
-
Help is given to beneficiaries as and when particular needs are identified. The support given may be financial, or advice with problems , transport or assistance in some other appropriate way.
-
Each beneficiary receives a monetary gift at Easter, Christmas and birthday.
-
Several events are held each year ,these include an Easter Mass, Christmas Get Together and Bingo evenings.
-
For many years there has been a sponsored walk to raise funds, this was not possible in 2023, as the venue that has hosted us for many years was no longer available. Efforts are ongoing to find another suitable venue as this event actively promotes the work of the Fellowship.
-
The Fellowship constantly seeks to identify both children and adults who may benefit from membership, and they are invited to become beneficiaries.
-
The committee work to ensure the Fellowship continues working for the benefit of the beneficiaries, as it has been doing for over 50 years.
In July 2022 Ann Miller stepped down from the role a Treasurer, after her many yeas of dedicated service. Ann has remained on the Committee. We are fortunate that Helen Robinson took up the post as our new Treasurer.
It caused a lot of unsettlement when the Yorkshire Bank in Nuneaton closed, after we used it for many years. We now have banking with Virgin Money
We received a final payout from the legacy of £24375.60 from our generous benafactors.
Over the year we have cautiously building up normal activities since Covid 19. The Easter Mass and Bingo night, went ahead and were both a success. Our Sponsored Walk was a huge success, with above average walkers. We are very grateful to the parishioners and schools for their tremendous support. The Walk would not be able to take place without the Marshalls, First Aiders and general support. The Christmas get to gether took place in 2022 and was enjoyed by all.
We kept in regular contact with our beneficiaries many who attend our religious and social events. Through our regular contact, with our beneficiaries, we are able to provide emeotional, practical and financial support. The Fellowship has purchased a new wheelchair and had the two existing wheelchairs serviced. Those wheelchairs are for the use of our beneficieries and on short term loan to parishioners.
We kept in contact with other Diocesan Fellowships, sharing good practice and procedures . Unfortunately, the Oscot Mass and the National AGM did not go ahead this year. Finally, on belhalf of the committee, we wish to thank all of our Fellowship friends for your continued support over the years and attendance at our fundriasing events.
We ask you to keep the Fellowship beneficiaries and their carers in your prayers.
