1996, a supplomonlal do8d dalgd 3 February 2009, a supplernental deed dated 74 April 2014 and
supplemental deed dated 14 S8Ptember 2017 and is a Registered Charity No.1052186.
The Charfty has a close relationship with th• South Hampslead Synag¢gue. The Synagogue i¥ a
rnember of the Unlted Synagogue, registered charity number 242552. The Trustse& who are all
al$0 members ofthe South Hampslgad Synagogue with the ￿CePtiOn of Stephen Pack. are working
th United Synagogue to arthieve their obj'ectivas.
The Trustees who have Served during the year arbj since the year end 8r8 881 out M page 1.
The Trustees aTe officers of the organi8ation and are responslble for daY-t￿daY acti￿tieS of fhe
Charfty. The Trustee8 are appointed and op&rate in accordanc8 wlth the TN8t Deed. No formal
Poli￿•￿ have been adopted for the Midudon al￿ training of trustges.

The objects of the Charty are lo establlgh and maintain a $ynagogu¢ or synagogues and related
community facilities and to athianc8 the adLKation of the public in tho J￿$h Rellghjn and the many
facets of J8wtsh culture worlowde.
H8vTng compl8led the new synagogue in the Spring of 2019 in accordance wilh the Plannlng Consent
and Section 106 Agre&m8nt, th8 charfty will Continue to collect out5tandlng pledge8. including
outstanding gift aid, and will endeavour lo obtain additional donation$ for any addf(ional works or
8qulpmgnt requirod forthe building.

Mosl of th8 bullding work8 have been complet&d other than the installation of the ark deslgnod by Ron
Araj, th8 in8tallation of the slalned glass window5 and ¢ompletlon of various il•m8 of 5nagglng which
have been delayed by the lockdowns relaled lo the Coronavirus.
Publlc Boneffls
The Charltles Act 2011 requires all Ghariti88 to meet the legal requirgment that its alms are for th8
publlc benefft. The Charity Commis¥lon In its Charities and Publlc Bgnefft guidance states that thèr6
are tsvo key prin￿pIeS to bè met in order to show that an organisalion's alms are far the public beneft;
firstty, there must be an Ident￿able benefft or benefits and serL)ndly. that the benefit must be to the
public or a 8ection in the public. The Trustees consider that they have complied vAth Sedion 17 of the
Charttles Act 2011 induding the guldance Public Benefft: rLnning a charity IPB2).

In the year undor revlgw tho Charity ￿e1Ved an unrestricled Iggacy of £150.000 and restricted
donations totslling £137,98912019£2,031,5511 forthe newsouth Hampstead Synagogue and grants
amounting to £257.93812019 £1.945,881) were made to The Unlt•d Synagjgue.
As noted above the Tru3iee8 arranged for the new synagogue bullthng which was conpleted during
the Spring of 2019. TheTrustee8were ablg to provide ongolng supportforcommunty actiwtie$vAlhin

## **Trustees' responsibilities in relation to the financial statements** 

**The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).** 

**The law applicable to Charities** _in_ **England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the Charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to:** 

- **select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;** 

- **observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;** 

- **make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;** 

- **state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements, and** 

- **prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in business.** 

**The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, The Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and its governing instrument. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.**
