2. Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document
Champions Church - Skipton is an unincorporated association operating under its governing document as a registered charity. During the reporting period, the trustees engaged Pathway Consultancy (Andy Strajnic) to review and update the charity's governance framework, and the trustees resolved to transition the charity structure to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This process is ongoing and will be completed in due course.
Trustee Recruitment and Training
Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document and serve in accordance with the charity's values and the requirements of the Charity Commission. During the year, the trustee board undertook a two-day professional training programme (23—24 April 2025) facilitated by Andy Strajnic of Pathway Consultancy. Key outcomes included:
-
e Review and updating of charity policies and procedures
-
¢ Clarification and communication of church vision
-
¢ Decision to progress the CIO conversion
A trustees’ away day was also held on 11 July 2025 at Shekinah Christian Centre, providing dedicated time for strategic planning, vision alignment and review of building development priorities.
Organisational Structure
Day-to-day management of the charity is undertaken by the Senior Pastor under the oversight of the trustee board. The charity is a member of Assemblies of God Great Britain and participates in regional and national AOG networks, conferences and hubs throughout the year.
