Trustees annual report ending March 2022

April – August

This year we have continued to see an increase in demand for our Food Bank and were able to regularly distribute to those in need. We have continued our partnership with our local Lidl; who have provided us with much needed supplies as well as being supported by Lidl and Aldi stores around the local area. We have also been able to connect with other local supermarkets, Aldi, Tesco and the Co-Op.

We have also continued to distribute clothing, toys and household good to refugees this included Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in their country.

On the first Sunday of each month we have hosted social nights, where local families can come into the church and have fun, playing an array of different games with food available.

September – March

We continue to put on events for the local community throughout the summer including BBQ’s, Bouncy castle and other outdoor games and events.

The darker nights we continue to show film nights, where we show both suitable family movies as well as Christian themed movies.

Harvest festival – our Pastor visited many of the local schools to do assemblies and received donations of food toward our Food Bank

During in November and December we had a big push for our Christmas Joy appeal whereby we provide presents for local children and families. All our local schools get involved by providing recommendations for those in need!

We also had the honour of hosting the Parish Chairman’s Carol service where many dignitaries and guest were present.

Christ week we provided 100’s of Food Hampers and gave out something in the region of 3,000 presents.

The new year began with the usual programme of encouraging and building the different teams to keep going.

Food Bank continues to meet a big need in the community and we also offer a Warm Space for refuge for anyone who need or wants to come along.

We met regularly throughout the year as Trustees and core team to discuss our ongoing program of support and to monitor our input into the community and how to grow and develop church! We held a new members class to develop and grow church life.

Our building was used for a community policing event bringing together different organisations from within Kirklees to showcase what is available to local residents in terms of support.

All – in -all the church is offering a great and positive impact into our local community and was recognised by a ‘Community Award’ from our local Parish Council.
