INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS TO THE TRUSTEES OF LEYLAND PENTECOSTAL FELLOWSHIP
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Leyland Pentecostal Fellowship for the year ended 31 December 2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Act and that an independent examination is needed.
I report in respect of my examination of the Trustees’ accounts carried out under s.145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiners’ statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed the examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
(1) accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by s. 130 of the Act; or
-
(2) the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

TRUSTEES’ANNUAL REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023
Summary of the main activities:
The church consistently teaches and promotes Biblical Christianity, through its main services and wider outreach.
A fortnightly Friday Friendship Café is open to the public as part of our outreach to the community and provides a low-cost nutritious meal in a warm and friendly environment. We also provided rooms in the Church for an AL-Anon group and Prophetic Witness Movement International.
Summary of main achievements:
The word of God is taught in the various weekly meetings and the gospel faithfully preached, particularly at our “Sunday at Six” meeting.
Fellowship has been promoted through various formal and informal meetings, post-meeting refreshments and periodic Sunday lunches.
We continue to utilise Zoom to allow the meetings to be made available to those who are no longer able to attend the meetings in person.
The Sunday ministry of the Word and bible studies are uploaded to the Church’s YouTube channel, thus reaching a wider audience.
The Sunday School work demonstrated further encouraging growth during the year.
The faithful ministry and pastoral care of our Pastor Ian Winstanley have been greatly appreciated.
The Church continues to support several missionary agencies and has contributed to those agencies to promote Christian teaching both at home and abroad.
The Church actively supports children’s homes and wider mission in both India and the Philippines. Total giving from Church funds to other Charitable missions during the year amounted to £19,360.
Financial review
We are grateful to all our members and visitors for their generous support and faithful giving. We appreciate the contribution that the Gift Aid scheme makes to the financial wellbeing of the Church. The church showed a deficit on the general fund on the year of £427 compared to a surplus of £5,506 in 2022. The Deficit was after considerable repair expenditure to the Church Premises £15,761, purchase of new IT equipment £1,070 and increased giving to Missions £19,360.
Many and varied contributions continue to be made by our members in terms of time, effort and labour across a whole range of activities. The value of such voluntary service is incalculable but invaluable to the smooth and efficient running of our church and we are extremely grateful for all the support shown.
