Chairmans Report — Will Evans 24/25

Taking over the reins from the brilliant top table which helped the club celebrate its 80th year in fantastic style, was going to be no mean feet guiding the club through its 81st year but Nescliffe has excelled over the past year across all aspects of YFC life.

Starting the year off with a bang with our Pub of the Month which was extremely well attended and supported by members from all over the county and our harvest supper, new members evening, pumpkin picking and carving and the bonfire night kindly hosted by the warner family which was greatly attended and well supported by members. Over autumn months we had our factory tour around McConnell and tour of the Jonn Deere dealership TAG which was hugely popular with our members and the other clubs invited. Entering the festive period Nesscliffe thoroughly enjoyed the wreath making, ice skating, panto trip to Theatre Severn, our Christmas lunch and our ever popular boxing night ball this year held at The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury greatly supported by clubs around Shropshire and further a field. Entering into the current calendar year brought lots of rehearsals and preparation for the drama competition held in February with bowling practices and competition In between preparation. After a very strong performance and tough competition, everyone really enjoyed the pantomime comp and well done to Jemima, Owen, Harry and Annabelle for winning best actors and actresses in your age groups, closely followed by the clay shooting practising and competition, where all members competed to very high-level with Charlie and Tom going on to take places and Charlie competing in the national round, then came the field day competitions which brought more SUCCESS.

April brought our annual dinner for the second year running which was kindly hosted by the Warner family and was very popular amongst the local community and fellow clubs. And our Vyrnwy vets tour with Newport. We then had a successful sports day with the girls netball team competing very well against tough competition and our junior rounders team being crowned champions. The lead up to the Shropshire show was filled with nights of float preparation, Keeping the good form in competitions going we won a certificate in pretty much everything we entered, with the float performing well and many members enjoying doing the parade around the main ring and our chairman taking home the runner-up spot in Shropshire stockman of the year. Soon after we turned our attention to our infamous big summer bash which was kindly hosted by the Warner family, which was extremely well attended with support from all over the country, lots of fun had by all members and a staple to the club calendar. Shropshire YFC rally was next on the agenda with Will and George taking Ist and 2nd in the crop judging compe%ition just before the big day, again another very successful competition had by all members with all colours of certificates won and Hannah getting selected for the national round in flower arranging.

Throughout July, we enjoyed a tour around dairy dreams, TR machinery dealer tour and the other socials clubs had on as well as our trip go karting also we had Shropshire representation with our chairman Will competing in the West Midlands round of stock judging where Shropshire achieved 3rd. Throughout August other clubs had their dances and we were preparing for our charity lunch combined with Nescliffe St Andrew's church and charity Dyno day both kindly hosted by the Hitchen family, both events were very well attended and greatly supported by both the local community, our members and fellow young Farmers raising just short of £3000 over the week in which we held both events for our fantastic charities of Rural Shropshire support, West Midlands air ambulance, and the Shewsbury Street pastors.

A massive well done to everyone who has competed in competitions and helped with the running of the club and the numerous events we have held making this year as fantastic as it has been a massive well done to Hannah, Charlie and Will who represented Shropshire in various competitions and wish the next top table the best of luck and support over the next year
