Hi everyone thank you for coming tonight to celebrate another year of nesscliffe young farmers for those of you who don't know myself and Ryan decided last year that we would both like to be chairman and so we decided to do it as a joint effort.

We started off the year with our new members evening, which was well attended and had a great night, gaining some new faces. We got straight into social evenings being invited by Alberbury to Jump in and had our own bowling night, pub of the month and pumpkin carving social with Chirbury.

Next came bonfire night held at Wykey Farm, we put on a great night with a bbq, bar and fireworks. Wem dinner dance kicked off December with several of our members attending, plenty of drinks were flowing there.

Christmas time soon came round with a club trip to the panto watching Beauty and the Beast, which was a night full of laughs.

We then tried out our own amazing singing voices with some Carol singing at Wykey Farm, the mulled wine definitely kept us going that night followed over the next week with door to door carol singing visiting some great hosts who kept us fed and our drinks topped up.

Next up we tried to turn our hand to some ice skating, some of us definitely more natural on the ice than others.

Soon enough it was time for our annual boxing night ball which was a sell out do held at Shrewsbury Football Club, there wasn’t much football going on but plenty of sore heads the next day after giving their bar a run for their money, I think they were surprised by how much young farmers can drink in one night!

We kicked off 2023 with getting started with our entertainments, a massive thanks to Hugh Jones who wrote us a script and coached us along to achieve 3[rd] place – which we were all so proud of. We rehearsed for weeks on end and had some late nights get those dances moves so good even Michael Jackson would be jealous, a massive thank you to all members who participated it was a lot of hard work but it definitely paid off.

As the year went on we continued to hold many social events such as a gin tour, clay shooting practice and farm tours.

With Shropshire show approaching the float began its serious transformation into Thomas the tank engine, on the show day we placed 3[rd] .

Planning for our summer bash began this year cowboy themed at Warners, a huge bar, live band, bucking bonco, hog roast and a DJ made the night a success, of course extending the biggest thank you to everyone who made the night happen.

Approaching the end of our young farmers year we showed off the talent of our members at Rally. Flower arranging, stock judging, baking and Annabelle Wixey showing us why it wouldn’t be a good idea to get in an arm wrestle with her.

We certainly achieved a lot this year and we couldn’t have done it without the help and support of our advisory, top table and most importantly our members, so thank you to all of you.

Me and Ryan would like to say a big thank you to our top table, our secretary Kitty and Treasurer Hannah you’ve done some great work this year we are lucky to be so well supported by you, thank you.

I am excited to see what this next year has in store for Nesscliffe, I have heard great things about the new chairman.

So once again a big thank you to everyone for attending tonight, and a big thank you to the caterers for providing us with such a lovely meal. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the evening.
